I recently acquired a sample of this tobacco and being I did not know what expect from this, when it arrived I opened the package and started smoking it right away! I have never been someone with a palate capable of picking out exact nuances of a tobacco blend.I never could understand how a reviewer finds a leathery flavor or a taste of burnt crabgrass in a tobacco..until today! I tasted something reminding me of nuts and was a bit sweet. The taste was pleasant and the smell reminded me of my grandfather smoking his pipe.. looking back the aroma was that of just tobacco.. to me it tasted just as it smelled, like tobacco..Both taste and smoke are rich yet not overpowering. To my wife sitting next to me the aroma was one of the better smelling blends I have ever smoked! I will say this about the tobacco, it did have an "old smell and taste" but by no means was it offensive or rancid. This was an all burley blend and has opened my eyes to burley blends! I had a few relights and the flakes seemed a bit dry as they would start to crumble with a light touch. I find this tobacco very enjoyable and a pleasure to smoke. Three stars from me!

Cool beans Mike. My taste buds aren't the best either. Flake, ribbon or cube cut?

If anyone wants any, let me know by PM..I still have plenty left, this stuff is 1944 vintage, so i don't think it needs aging.

I was really suprised to see that Orlik tinned this brand so recently, I wonder how close it is to the original. www.4noggins.com/Old-English-Curve-Cut-c.2005-C.aspxI am surprised to see Dunhill tins with 15 years commanding $100 prices, if they do pull out of the market, it would be nice to have a mountain of them to let trickle out onto the market.. .

In 15 years I will be a bit over 70, if I am still kicking though.

It's a 1944 vintage Burley Flake?
i see you guys are the only ones to review the blend on TR as well. I'd love to try some. I could trade something. I have 1970 Velvet as one of my blends with the most age. It's still a good smoke for an aged OTC type.

I am surprised to see Dunhill tins with 15 years commanding $100 prices... [/i][/quote] I noticed that a short while ago. I was all the more taken aback given that, although there are various theories regarding dating Dunhill tins, there's nothing definitive. Eh, there are plenty worse ways to spend money. I wonder how much tobacco I could my twenty-five year old tin of Royal Yacht into? I keep meaning to look into that...
