For the record, we have only ever banned 1 person here. I prefer to keep the type of the crowd that doesn't ever require using the ban hammer. I've been on different forums where I've been near banned for not kissing moderators and/admin butt. It's good to know that you are stand up in that regard. As you, I, and a great many folks already know, pipe smokers tend to be a laid back crowd. Even the wild ones. There's always an exception to every rule, but some of us have been ruled unjustly. I haven't been here long, but everything I've seen keeps with the laid back mood. It's a nice change of pace. That's a big reason, in my opinion, why the numbers are growing. Word gets out.😁 |

I have seen plenty of forums where admins and moderators get a God complex. It becomes a little fiefdom. Pipe smoking is just a part of who I am and the forum is a hobby. I spend enough time in my professional life playing babysitter and peace maker, I don't want to do it in my down time.
I expect people to treat each other like people. When that doesn't happen... then I step in.

I belong to a newer, smaller pipe smokers forum where we seldom see or hear from the admin/moderator. The members self-police themselves for the most part though at least two people have stopped participating because the admin was active enough and they didn't like non-smoking topics being posted
