I'd pretty much stopped buying pipes but was willing to add something if it was a really special item. A couple of weeks ago Ken Barnes contacted me about this pipe and offered it to me at an exceptional price. While he could have made more money on it, Ken preferred it to go to someone who would truly appreciate it. So first of all, Ken, I can't thank you enough! You embody all that is good in this hobby and your friendship is a joy for me. This is a real crown jewel! The pipe is a Barling Magnum from 1872 and as you can see, it's in really exceptional condition. Length is about 9 1/2". It's been carefully smoked. Amazing for a 145 year old pipe. I do plan to smoke it after I've had the opportunity to clean it. Going to do this carefully as it wouldn't do to crack it, but the chamber looks solid. Photos by Ken Barnes

Add that Barling's with the unsmoked pair of Barling's you have from the early 1900's, and you've got some serious museum quality pipes.
