I got this Harcourt sometime in the 1970"s as a gift from my brother. Dunhill had Preban Holm design pipes for their Harcourt brand hoping to cash in on the Danish freehand market. You can see why this didn't work for them. I've won a couple of Ugliest Pipe contests with this piece of "art". So let's see your ugliest pipe.

I don't have any pipe that would come close to that. What a looker.

A friend of mine collects ugly pipes. I wish that I had a pic to post of a Wally Frank that he bought at the Chicago Show this year. It looks like a turd on a stick.

While I don't personally own any pipes that would beat the two above, I'll nominate one by the respected pipe maker, Nate King. He used to do transmissions for IndyCars, as you can tell. And I have another by a Russian dude who makes some of the most stunning and beautiful pipes I've ever seen. He's so original though, here's one from when I guess the acid was bad.

To be fair to Russian dude, sometime the acid is good, and you get Michelangelos like this: Aaand, then he gets another bad hit, and it's back to:

To be clear, the pipe that I posted is not mine and belongs to a friend of mine who specializes in collecting ugly pipes.

Every so often, he doesn't do acid at all, and you get: But, then his dealer shows up, and it's back to:

Reminds me of a Micoli (Robert Burns), I've seen much uglier pipes John, hell, I've made much uglier pipes.

Some real contenders here. I'm surprised we have not seen more of Werner Mummert's pipes yet.

Ugly or beautiful? Can't make up my mind. Click on pic to enlarge, I think. Ya know......I REALLY like this pipe. Why? Because I know how hard that is to do, specially with the realism he put into it. If it only had an eye I'd swear it was ready to crawl away at any minute.

I have seen other pipes by this maker and he seems extremely talented. They appear to me as art pieces for display more than a tool to enjoy baccy with. My guess is he is making them for the Asian market that appears to be very active by folks buying 4 and 5 figure priced pipes.

Not only is this concoction by Anne Julie hard on the eyes, it was priced at 65,000 DK, about $10,000 US. Past tense. That's the thing, one man's garbage really is another man's gold.
