Hey fellow pipe smokers, just wanted to make a post about how I'm feeling as I enjoy a late night smoke. Im about 3 months in as a pipe smoker now, and while I know I'm no expert, I feel like through this community and other enthusiasts of this fine hobby, I've learned a lot in that short time. Pipe smoking just calms me down and gives me time to really think. I've beem smoking a bowl for about 45 min now while my fiance and I discussed are wedding plans in Scotland two weeks from now. She just went inside and I'm finishing my bowl listening to the night. Im smoking some Sutliff vanilla custard. I know I'm rambling a bit, but just wanted to make a post and maybe start to get to know a few people on the forum.

I think most of us find the pipe to be a contemplative activity when alone and a collegial one with other pipers. Best wishes on your upcoming wedding. Scotland sounds like a very cool venue.

As another bearded pipe smoker, I too find pipe smoking a relaxing activity. It's something you can do any time of day. You can explore a world of tobaccos and blends. I say that you should smoke what you like and like what you smoke. Don't listen to the "Know it alls". I often answer those who say "I don't like that blend, or I only smoke a certain type of tobacco" that I hadn't bought it for them to smoke, but myself. I began pipe smoking back in the dark pre PC and cell phone days of 1968. Congrats on the upcoming wedding . Have a long and happy marriage!

Thanks guys, I'll do my best to represent us pipesmokers on this side of the pond while I'm there. Do we have any members on the forum from Edinburgh or Dublin?

Welcome to the forum. I drive over 100k miles every year, and the pipe really allows me to melt the miles away as I listen to podcasts and music. Quite often though it is a time of reflection as I turn off the stereo. As John said, it is equally enjoyable with the camaraderie of the pipe club. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding and the upcoming trip. I don't think any of these guys are forum members, but they are based over there. kearvaigpipeclub.co.ukIf you find yourself in London, there is the Pipe Club of London... a good bunch of guys.

I too am a late night pipe smoker. I typically smoke at around midnight (PST). If I have two bowls in a day, it'll be around 8:00PM-ish and then at Midnight to 1AM-ish.
Enjoy your wedding day in Scotland. I wish a long and happy marriage to your fiance and yourself.

Congrats on both levels. A side trip to Copenhagen and the Danish Pipe Shop is a Honeymoon must . . . . . well for at least half the team.

Congrats and Best Wishes for you and your Bride.I've found myself up at all hours of day and night with a pipe slowly smoldering. I really like the Vanilla topped aro's, they tend to carry me off to other worlds where there aren't any stressers.
