I finally took the plunge and ordered a tub of the often talked about Angler's Dream literally two weeks before it went "out of stock" at P&C meaning no more production. Too bad they didn't offered 2oz bags so that I would have tried it sooner. I broke the 14oz tub down into 8 jars of 1.75oz. Unfortunately, I fell deeply in love with Angler's Dream but had to force myself to ration it out slowly as I would never get any more.
Then my hopes rose when I started hearing rumors of an Angler's Dream re-release for this summer. Last week, a friend of mine sent me a message that the ordering page was up and he had just ordered some. I thought it was odd that it was out and yet there had been no publicity about the re-release of this cult favorite. But, I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth or take the time to fry an egg. I immediately jumped online and remembered that I had gotten a 25% off code in email that was good for during a 48 hour pre-Father's Day sale. I took full advantage of the sale.
A little while later, the ordering page was down and I read a post that said it was an "oops" that the ordering page was up as the official release is at the end of this month. So, I got very lucky.
Instead of 14oz tubs, Angler's Dream is now bulk. The pound bags are labeled Sutliff. That's not surprising since they are who did the original manufacturing.
This is is definitely the exact same blend that it was before. I still had 3 1.75oz jars left of the original. It's the same coarse cut. It looks the same. It smells the same other than the cinnamon tin note was a bit sharper when opening a sealed tub, but that faded after a short bit anyways. Most importantly, I've been comparison smoking the old and the new since I received my order on Tuesday. They smoke the same.
The re-release:
I hope that Angler's Dream is back to stay, but just in case, I stocked up.
