Here's a question. So, cumarin and flavoring involving the Tonquin bean are illegal in the usa in food. Once the FDA is involved in pipe tobacco, will they ban lakeland tobaccos? This is a fairly serious concern. Thoughts?

I'm not too sure if it matters. It is my understanding that most people that use "Tonka bean" flavoring use a synthetic version. I think the only way the FDA would get involved is if someone actually filed a complaint against a company because they were using the real thing. With all of the Lakeland's being Grandfathered they are not even on the FDA's radar.

Here's a question. So, cumarin and flavoring involving the Tonquin bean are illegal in the usa in food. Once the FDA is involved in pipe tobacco, will they ban lakeland tobaccos? This is a fairly serious concern. Thoughts? It's why you should stockpile your favorite tobaccos. Coumarin is not just used in Lakeland blends, many tobaccos contain it. One off hand, Low Country Strawberry says it's flavors of "coumarin, vanilla, and strawberry." I started stockpiling Ennerdale, Kendal Flake and all my other UK tobaccos a year ago due to this and knowing the prices will inevitably increase as well. The FDA could certainly try to do something about it. jitterbugdude is on to something when he says that they may not look into it because GH blends are antique and have already been pre-2007 blends. However, I believe they still use real Tonka beans and thus could at any time be subjected to our fascist anti-smoking new world agenda. FDA only now will have grips over tobacco, and being an agency that banned Tonka in foods, there's no safety net protecting tobaccos. If 1792 or other Tonquin blends are your favorite, I wouldn't hesitate to stock as much as you can possibly afford over this year.

Duly noted. I don't know why this hadn't occurred to me sooner. Time to stock up. I have to think whether or not they are pre 2007, the FDA will do whatever they like.

Does this pending threat account for the limited availability of Angler's Dream ?

The FDA expansion into pipe tobacco is a "kingdom" building attempt. The larger you expand your influence the more employees you can hire, so then the head bureaucrats can call for larger paychecks. Rubber Butt Plugs are next.

Darn it and I just now found a source for Polish Bison grass . One would have to consume 250grams of Tonquin in one setting for it to be lethal . The FDA doing stupid stuff since 1906 .

Does this pending threat account for the limited availability of Angler's Dream ? I don't think so. I think it's a matter of the upcoming FDA rules regarding the deeming date.
