Stonehenge was re-released today at smokingpipes.com. I just ordered a couple of tins. There does not appear to be a limit on orders but I'd move quickly if you want this classic.

I only ordered 1 tin the minute it was put up on the site but it's not a limited release, and SP currently have thousands of tins in stock. I wonder if it will sell out by tonight or tomorrow. I smoked the original, and Greg Pease thinks this version is even better than the first!

There were only a coveted 1,500 tins ever made in the year 2001. This is a full on release, but at this rate they will all be sold out in about another 2 hours, maybe 3. Down to about 1,700 tins remaining.
His extremely limited re-release of Renaissance as "Renaissance Reserve" last summer was only 500 tins made. When I ordered one, they accidentally sent me 2. Best English blend there is, eat your heart out Balkan Sobranie.

One or two to smoke now and the remainder to cellar!

Is it just me, I hear about the wonders of one blend or another and it's merely good, ok, could live without it, or godaweful ! Like a bear with a flame thrower... And at a premium price to boot.

Can anyone that's had Stonehenge compare it to GH Louisiana Flake?

But more Perique than LPF but otherwise fairly similar, although the Stonehenge I've smoked was 15 years old and the Virginias had really matured and turned jet black. Pease actually said he likes this reincarnate a bit better so I'm excited.
Odd pertaining to the SP supply of Stonehenge. Their inventory system showed they were down to about 7-800 tins then it suddenly shot back up to 1,899, though their database does that sometimes even though there's still only the low number remaining. Something to do with processing orders.

Depends on what blends you like. If you're a Gawith Hoggarth fan and you've smoked the 2001 release of it, and you're a VaPer smoker, and if you possibly appreciate Greg Pease tobaccos, there's a whole lot to like in this offering. It's being made in Kendal, shipped back and packaged at C&D. This Flake ages phenomenally and 2001 Stonehenge was better or right there with 1990's Escudo I've smoked. Pick you poison, of course. I don't chase anything Esoterica, in fact I've never bought one tin or bag of Esoterica tobacco. I will buy C&D or Pease releases that I like. I'll otherwise buy all bulk myself.

I picked up 5 tins of Stonehenge Flake. I have one tin of the 2001, so I'm happy to have more. My only regret in all of this is that C&D is tinning it. One can only hope that they don't screw this up.

They handled their mistakes well. Recently folks have had mold on GH twists so it's all prone at some point. Also, the tobacco is being processed in Kendal by Gawith and shipped back to C&D, so the tobaccos anti mold processes are actually being done at Gawith Hoggarth.

C&D have continued to put out moldy product because they are reluctant to change their philosophy regarding "natural" tobaccos while operating a plant in a warm humid environment. A lot of my GLP tins were made before C&D moved to their current location and those have been fine. I'm not concerned about the Gawith part of it, but about C&D's tinning environment which is part of the anti-mold process. There's no indication that they connect the dots.

Having talked with the blender, they do fully understand what's going on and how to prevent it, although I understand both sides. I'm pretty sure Jeremy understands exactly how to blend and prevent mold better than most. Again, of course I see your side and don't want to get Stonehenge tins that have a problem. Of course you and I have had these discussions before and not trying to rehash that Red Flake situation, but I've never gotten a moldy tin and if I do, I know they'll take care of me and it won't cost me anything but time to receive my replacement tin.

I spoke with the Northeast sales re from Laudisi at the B&M last month. I asked him about the mold issue. He told me that the supplier came up with an universal antifungal agent to replace the 2 that C&D were using. Whoops, it didn't work. C&D went back to their original ingredients and that seemed to cure the problem. Fingers crossed.
