Check out this video from Shane Ireland of Smokingpipes.com as he reviews the re-release of the mythic Va/Per blend by Greg Pease, Stonehenge Flake. Great video about a legendary tobacco.

I was very happy to see this blend revived. I've been holding onto my tin of the 2001 release. This is a superb blend. The lakeland is well balanced and works happily with the cocoa in the topping. Hats off to Greg for creating and reviving this blend.

I was able to try some of this last night at our pipe club meeting. First thing I noticed... the lakeland. Not my cup of tea and unfortunately it did not burn off enough for me to really get into it. That being said, the underlying tobacco was of high quality and when I did get the tobacco dominant flavors coming through, it was quite enjoyable.
I'm not running out buy any of this, but I'm glad I tried it at least.

I'm half way through 1 tin and enjoy it quite a bit. Funny how tastes change, 5 years ago I doubt I would have liked Lakelands.

But if any touch of lakeland puts you off then it's not for you. I'm not a fan of Lakeland but in this case it worked for me.

It sounds like we have similar tastes, as too much Lakeland is not my cup-o-tea (too much, IMO is enough to detract from the tobacco flavors). Maybe ageing it will help with balancing out the flavors and reducing the Lakeland? That's my hope anyway.

I will try letting it dry out befor smoking it (when I pop a tin).

Next time I see Shane Ireland, I will have to ask him what is up with the Kim Jung Un haircut.

Like Jesse suggested, make sure it's plenty dry. I get nearly no taste of Flavoring but slight cocoa if I fully rub the flakes and let it dry to nearly crispy. Fully rub to only ribbon cut and leave absolutely no pressed chunks. Once dry, it tastes just like a VaPer with darker brown Virginias and barely any Perique. To be completely honest I'm intrigued though that anyone associates this with Lakeland anything. I taste cocoa and VaPer and nothing whatsoever floral, but GH is one of my favorite blending houses. There's no geranium, no rose, no tonquin flavors, nothing that anyone typically considers a Lakeland style scent so I say give it a try. I've already smoked nearly a tin of it while also smoking LPF by GH & Co. for comparison.
