So, I have a collection of generic OTCs that I picked up during my early stage of "I wanna try everything!" lol. But I found that they weren't all that great. I'm mixing them all together to see if I can come up with something decent. Is it enough to just jar up the mixture and let it sit around for awhile, or should I try heating it to speed up and/or "cement" the flavors together?

I have blended a few OTCs with other components to improve them. I found that I did not like regular Sir Walter Raleigh. I added a little blending Perique and some whiskey flavored aromatic. I jarred it up and found it to be quite good after a couple of months. Maybe adding a flavored cavendish would improve it for you.

Just throw it all in a jar and give it a couple to a few weeks to marry.

If you're interested in experimenting with a little "cooking", try this on one of them: Spread the tobacco on a cookie sheet and place it in the oven at 120F until very dry. Prepare a mixture of 1 TBSP Hershey's Chocolate Syrup to 1 ounce of water. Remove the tobacco from the oven and spritz with your casing until well coated. Give it a good stir, spread it back out and repeat this process a few times. On the last round, only spritz enough to barely hydrate the tobacco. Place this in a container and allow the moisture to absorb for a few hours. If your happy with the moisture content at that point, jar it up for a few days and then try it out. Good luck and happy cooking!

thanks! I have a combination of Smoker's Pride Cherry and Black Cavendish, Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish, Black Cavendish, Cherry Liquor and Bourbon Whiskey, Super Value Cherry Cavendish, Smoker Friendly's Black Cavendish, Cherry, and Sweet Natural. The aroma wasn't cherry enough so I added some CB Cherry. Now I'm waiting on some Super Value English Mixture I ordered. I'm working toward a cherry english blend.

Ahhh ... thought you meant OTC's in the sense of Carter Hall, Prince Albert, SWS, etc ...
I don't think I'd try the above method on any aromatics.

Lane: 1-Q & BCA mixed 50/50 is a very good combo.
Smokers Pride Vanilla Cavendish @70% + 30% Sutliff Vanilla Custard tones the VC down. This mix ratio also works for Sutliff 1-M or Cream Brulee.

In your will, for the sake of science...donate your tongue to the Red Adair fire suit research institute...if they can genetically reproduce it, the inter-volcanic research society will be forever in your debt.

Two blends I really like: Carter Hall & Butternut Burley 50/50 and Half & Half with 10% Perique

Maggie the best advise I can give you is this. First go to the store and buy some whole chickens. Second light your charcoal BBQ. Third once the BBQ is hot place the chickens in it. Fourth to add flavor to the chickens, loosely pack the tobacco in aluminum foil. Poke small holes in foil Fifth during the cooking add the above packs to the BBQ allowing the heat of the charcoal to heat the packs so the smoke will surround the chickens during cooking. Sixth once cooked remove the chickens from the BBQ. Seventh find some Army Soldiers and give them the Chickens. Eight go to your favorite restaurant or Marine Mess Hall and enjoy Dinner. Nine follow this with a nice bowl of Dunhill Dark Flake.

A pinch of a Caramel tobac in Prince Albert adds a new flavor profile for variety. PA @75% and Smokers Pride Natural @25% makes a serviceable combo. Not a super mix, but if you have both in your stash, it is worth a try. They can also be used to supplement one another, should you be running low on either.

Take the stave out of a tin of Frog Morton Cellar and soak it in your favorite whiskey. Put soaked stave in a jar with Carter Hall. Wait a couple of weeks ... voila!
