Thanks for sharing your photos with us, keep 'em coming Hey! You asked us for responses and we gav'em, now it's your turn sir! I always wait for someone to ask, thanks. Well I got a rare type of genetic/hereditary form of poly neuropathy (multiple areas of nerve damage) 3 years ago. I went from being a normal 58 year old, to the physical equivalent of a 90 year old. My body attacked the nerves in my arms and legs and destroyed 90% of them, thus the muscles get their information to function from the nerves. So I have lost about 60-70% of my muscles in my arms and legs. This stopped all my previous hobbies such as : kart racing- Dirt bikes- Street bikes-

So now I am down to listening to my Hi-Fi system, ham radio(2 meter/440 only) as I had to sell my HF rig in the big sell off. I got awarded SS Disability 3.weeks after my phone interview, but it takes 5 months to get the first check, so I died a quick financial death in 5 months, as most people would. I'm going to try and start back building high power model rockets again as I still have a 6ft tall one new in box to build.
Current hobbies- 1. SEX 2. Stereo 3. High Power rocketry 4. Pipe smoking 5. Modifying powerchairs
beware- all above photos are from Photobucket and will likely disappear at any moment.

I'm 71 and a semi-retired musician...Still play maybe 4 times a month...That works for me...I enjoy gardening, aquariums, watching old 30's to 60's horror/sci-fi, watching mma, Scrabble, yardwork, blending Englishes from whole leaf, cutting up tobacco leaves with pruning shears and trying not to lop off a finger, kayaking...The second I post this, I'll think of more......

I am always curious to what hobbies and interests others have. Post up pictures too, as they are always better than text. Hobbies huh, Well I've had many starting when I was a very young man. I reckon the 1st was model building, then for most my life antiques and collectibles from telephones, electric fans, clocks, glassware pottery, pipes anything and everything not to mention model railroading and I reckon I miss it the most but, ended up selling most everything I've ever collected or had for a hobby off, even pipes. As time past I went back to collecting pipes and have around 425 of them now. And I reckon you could say I make pipes as a hobby also but, as most hobbies I get into I sell to be able to afford to continue with it. I won't show photos of them because most of ya already have seen what I make but, I do have a couple of other hobbies I've gotten into that I still have photos of. Here are some of the antique fans I use to collect and restore. This is a 1906 GE pancake fan (because of it's motor shape) with wall mount adapter and then a 1950'2 Emerson with custom paint. I also collected and restore telephones, 1st one is a Automatic Electric from the 40's and then a Western Electric 302 from 40'-50's, a Western electric 202 from the 20's and the mate to the Automatic electric desk set is the A-E wall phone called a Jukebox phone for obvious reason, then a Kellogg Redbar for obvious reason from the 40's -50's. This isn't even scratching the surface of what I use to collect and restore, my house at one time reminded people of a museum. Every room was done in a time period right down to fixtures and even what we cooked and ate with......except the food, tried once and had the runs for a week.

What instruments do you play? What style of music? I play piano, drums, harmonica and guitar....The style that I record is that of early R&R, R&B, Rockabilly, blues, slow ballads. This is the first blog site I've been on so I'm learning how to communicate and answer.

Many of my previous hobbies have gone by the wayside because of it like collecting and restoring antique electric fans. Most weigh in at around 35 -45 pounds and I can't handle them because of it, that and the constant standing and bending to restore them mainly in prep and paint. Pipemaking now is even taking it's toll but, I grin and bear it as I'm sure you do because you like what you're doing. Keep on going sir because when we stop it's over.

Right now the only hobbies I have left is the little bit of traditional archery I can do. I also fletch my own arrows and make my bow strings. I am trying to learn to turn wood on a lathe. I found out quickly that this can be expensive to buy the needed equipment. Smoking my few Briars, Meershaums and Cobs. Hopefully in a few months I will have fresh cobs to make some pipes.
Then the biggest one is how to live on a fixed income. This is the hardest hobby of them all.
And yes being Disabled and trying to carry on with a semi normal life can suck. Been doing it since 1986 and just got some not so good news.

Too lazy to empty the gun safes to post pictures, my ammo cellar has about 12,000 rounds from 9mm to .308, so I definitely need to work on upping that.
I like freebanding radio, when the skip is in with my President Lincoln chip switched and driven by my Texas star amp, I can make contacts all over the world.... able to listen in on some interesting gubmint channels too. I have about 13 radios from mobile to base starions, most are not set up currently.
Camping, fishing, history buff, theology, I have a 1966 Williams "Hot Line" pinball machine that I need to restore.

These days, I don't have much time for hobbies, but I'll list those that I still occasionally persue: Hiking, Photography, Movies - mostly classic films of the 1920's thru 1940's, Reading - mostly history, mysteries, and the occasional sci-fi, going to plays - if that can be considered a hobby, pipe history with an emphasis on Barling pipes.
When I'm working there isn't much time for anything else.

What with all the smoking, drinking fine whiskys, chasing a bit of tail (when the mood strikes me ) AND feeding the cats...I hardly have time for another hobby.

Was big into photography for a while, did typical senior portraits and stuff, well long enough to pay for my equipment then concentrated mostly scenic/landscape. Not at home to access some of photos. Do have a couple examples on phone. Also kinda a history buff, civil war and WWII(European theater mainly but starting to study more in the Pacific theater lately) I used to golf...A LOT single digit handicap for a while until my back went south on me and was a 190-200 average bowler again until my back made me give both up.

In the late 'nineties I thought I should do a little cycling to help stay in shape. Me being me, my car was sold off not too much later and I've been cycling ever since. I've managed to get down to two rides, the main one being: It's a "hobby" like pipe smoking is a hobby...quite a bit more. There seems no end of things to do: art, particularly watercolours and sketching, building free-flight, rubber-powered airplanes (great fun!), endless reading, mostly non-fiction. This spring a neighbour of my parents gave me a small metal lathe with most of the fixings needed to get started on that undertaking: so much to learn there! And then there are those things in life that straddle the line between an avocation and a hobby. I can say that I haven't been bored since I was a teenager.

Let's try this again to see if it will post. My wife says my first hobby and the one I probably miss not doing the most was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard for 21 years. Then one morning I woke up and said, "This isn't fun anymore." and retired. I was a photojournalist/public affairs specialist for most of my career so naturally photography and writing continued to be hobbies. My next "hobby" was fishing. I love fishing so much I found a job as the editor of a monthly hunting and fishing magazine. What better way to enjoy a hobby than to get paid for doing it. Living in the New Orleans area since 1989, I also picked up the "Mardi Gras" hobby and rode in one of the small local Mardi Gras Krewes (that's how they spell it) for 14 years. Basically it was a group of guys who would meet up several times a years to party, throw a fancy ball and then ride on top of parade floats throwing beads and stuff animals to people while in varying stages of being drunk. I had to quit after back surgery made it too painful These days my hobbies are collecting pipes and pipe tobacco to a small extent. I only have about 50 pipes and about 30 of those are estate pipes we've found in antique/collectible shops. My wife enables the estate pipe collections by dragging me to these shops and saying, "Oh! Look at this pipe! They only want $20." She doesn't know about the hidden collection of tobacco. Other than that, my wife says my main hobby seems to be irritating her and our 2 daughters. We have 2 sons and they are following in my footsteps with pipe smoking. I also spend a lot of times training our 9 grandchildren to be irritating to their parents. I call it passing on to them what they did to us. I'm also a pretty good cook and I have a collection of a couple dozen cook books. Even wrote a cooking column for a small paper for a year. You'll never see me on one of the cooking contest shows though because I think fancy plating is a waste of time for someone who normally just says, "Dinner is ready, plates are in the cabinet, serve yourself." Oh! I blog. Forgot to add that. Every now and then I get the urge to blog about whatever happens to come to mind. I have written blogs about pipe smoking, cigars, going back to your high school reunion and a number of other subjects. My blogs can be found in two locations: jgcreativeservices.com/wordpress/ and macpappysworld.blogspot.com/
