I am looking at getting someone to make me one of these as I have very low strength in my hands. Also this would solve my problem with heat on my fingers (heat intolerance issue) holding a conventional pipe. It can look like the one below, a square block. I also would want it to be a taller than normal, and with a bigger than normal bore size for a 2 hour long smoke. i am curious as to what they use for tubing as it would be necessary to soak in clean the tubing occasionally since you couldn't run a pipe cleaner through it. Anyone have one of these?

FYI...They do make a continuous role pipe cleaner in 50' length...so that should take care of the tube cleaning...I buy it that way to use in extra long stem churchwardens...

I have a homemade version. The bowl is the stummel from one of those Austrian hunting style pipes. I used a length of clear tubing and fit a stinger with scoop end and a short stem on the other end. The Billiard bowl has a short extension that was meant to fit the long shank of a Hunting pipe. I fit the stinger piece here and draw through the tubing to the mouthpiece. It is still hand held, but I have placed it in one of those folding pipe stands. I run hot water through the tubing occasionally when cleaning. Not the sophisticated DH example pictured, but I was able to assemble a functioning unit from parts on hand. The briar bowl is of good quality and 2 3/4" high for a long smoke. Works good as a movie pipe, given it's stationary nature.

I want to see pictures of this thing, Mike. I'd never known of Dunhill or otherwise making these. They're like hookahs without water filtration.

No pic capability, Zach, but if you know what those Hunting pipes look like, I was hoping my description would help visualize it.

Table pipes have been around for a long time. Seems to me that if you're somewhat handy you could by a predrilled block and make your own. Vermont Free Hand offers some very nice pieces. vermontfreehand.com/product/briar-pipe-kit/

Those Vermont Freehand blocks are great, but they don't have ones that are really big. That's why I figured that I would have to get someone to make me a Magnum size pipe.

Depending on your budget maybe Boswell's could custom make you one or sell you a block of Briar. They make some ginormous pipes so they apparently have access to VERY large blocks.

The pipe is not the issue, but the hose is a problem. The ones they sell for hookahs are not usable for regular pipe tobacco. I have heard that the clear plastic tubing they sell at Home Depot is good. Mine came with a fabric covered rubber hose that works OK after flushing it with bourbon several times. I is quite old. I used a MM replacement stem.

I have some old Austro Hungarian Meerschaum pipes that have pretty old fabric to the point of being unusable, you can actually see the spring substructure...the cherrywood? stems are still in great shape...I am looking for a person that repairs such stems.
That Dunhill desk pipe in the OP sure woild set a guy back a few...cool looking work on that briar. I wonder if it originally came with a base...it looks like a simple twist of the tube and you would be dumping ash.
