Smoking late 70's or early 80's Heine's Blend that I picked up from Pipestud. Supposedly has deer tongue in it. I think I am detecting that as a slight spiciness, but am not positive. The tub was a 14 oz, levertop. The tobacco is still moist and pliable. A pronounced cocoa aroma on opening with maybe a hint of treacle or sugar. It smokes very well, required a couple of relights, but that was probably my poor job at loading my Virginia Planter. The smoke has an interesting aroma that smells faintly floral to me, but not in any sort of a Lakeland way. Maybe like honeysuckle. I will enjoy this stash for quite a while. Definitely an OTC kind of tobacco, but a well made one. Did not bite me at all. If Pipestud has more of it, I think it is worth grabbing. Better do it before I do though.

Thanks for the review, it's a good one. I really like Heins Blend, but I've only had it with about a years age.

Thanks to Don, I got a nice sample of the HB. It's different than the current manufacture. It's also very good. I like the new stuff (smoked three tubs), but the substitution of couramin for deer tongue makes it a different blend. Also, the cut of the tobacco is different. I still recommend the new stuff if you like OTCs, but if I get a chance to buy the old stuff at a good price, I'll do it.
