I've acquired three Peterson system pipes over the past 4 weeks. Two are system standards and one is an XL. The stems on all are P-Lip, but of very different width. The XL is quite wide. One of the standards is very narrow and the other is wider, but not as wide as the XL.

Is there any significance to the width of the stem? Indication of age?

Any information you might be able to provide would be helpful.
