Recently started smoking a pipe after a brief try a few years back. I enjoyed it, but was renting a place (after leaving the Navy) and we could not smoke inside. It was winter and... I like not being cold. Bought my own home earlier this year and started up again when my wonderful wife bought me a new pipe for my birthday. She remembered how much I enjoyed it and said I could start again since I had to answer to no one. (A good wife is a gift from the heavens... a bad wife is a gag gift from someplace else).
Currently an electrician for the railroad, living in central Arkansas. Got kids and grandkids, the aforementioned wife, a cat and a dog. Just started a garden in my backyard. Going back to school on the GI Bill. I have a blessed life, though it took me a while to get here.
Hope to discover some new things about pipes while I'm here. And maybe about myself.
Thanks, ~K~

Welcome from Florida's capital city. Where about in central Arkansas are you? I have family in Saline county. Pulaski County, a suburb of Little Rock (actually North Little Rock). Saline buts up against Pulaski to the south. Benton, the county seat, is maybe thirty minutes away.

You know it is in the job description that you have to let the steam out of the transformers and the smoke out of the capicators on occasion.

The most important thing to remember
1 Burley is your friend 2 like what you smoke, smoke what you like. 3 dry your flakes more than you think 4 tampers are for keeping the cherry close to the tobacco. Light tamping is good 5 re-lights are part of the game. 6 Burley is your friend 7 Vapers are good 8 Burley is your friend 9 English are good 10 Burley is your friend
Good days, good night's are better with a pipe. Bad days can get better with a pipe.
IMHO there is only one thing better than a pipe. And that is the love of my wife.
