We here at The Patch decided that it was only appropriate to provide a special title for not only one of most prolific posters, but also someone who has played a major role in building the membership here. Jim, you are a valued member here and this is about the closest thing we can provide to a trophy. Thank You for your involvement and interest in making this the best forum out there.

Congrats Jim! Now that you're the "Samurai of Smoke" does that mean all future egg frying will be in a wok?

Well done. I look forward to seeing Jim's topknot. I think it's quite striking. That is a great photo! I was wondering about the new legend on my avatar, and Bonanza Driver alerted me to this thread. Many many thanks, Justin for the great honor. And I thank all of you who congratulated me. Very humbling title and thread.

A suggestion for his new image..... Closest thing to a kimono that I could find. The title is Japanese for 'Samurai of Smoke'. We could have it monogrammed on the robe. How about it Jim???

yepper......Jim I. is indeed the "man of all men" in this area.
Your one-liners concerning "how old is Ed" at another thread..just a gut-buster..
Just for info for all.....if anybody can beat 12/29/40, I've just done lost my "seniority".

Jim has done quite a bit for the pipe community in the past several years. Quite a few interviews, he got Edward G. Robinson blend brought back via Sutliff and Jim actually wrote the tin/tub description for Edward G. Robinson. (You should try the blend if you haven't had it.)
Jim's reviews have potentially sold so many tobaccos for the blending houses/brands over these past few years, blends people otherwise wouldn't have bought and tried, they should probably be paying him a little commission!
Jim does it all for the love of the craft though, and if we were to nominate a member as being most influential pipeman of our time, he'd be up there on the list. The 30's-70's had their pipemen of the day, and today I believe Jim is the biggest celebrity pipeman of our time. (Some may not know who Jim is in real life, but he's famous enough to be a celebrity in my book.)
