A Ti Te Queria Encontrar (2018) with Erendira Ibarra. She's gorgeous and wonderful and willing to move the heavens and earth to make rich manchild Erick Elias' life even easier. The cinemotographer keeps trying to justify camara techniques that are out of place in a romantic comedy and the writer is too busy trying to avoid soap opera cliches to notice he's deep into manic pixie dream girl territory. You'd be better off seeing Erendira Ibarra (a charismatic actress) in Las Aparaicio or Sense8.

We've really been enjoying the classic cars and interviews on Netflix "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee". It's hosted by Jerry Seinfeld and there are some great guests.

We rented hostels off of Amazon. Outstanding movie constantly mesmerized by the action on the screen. I'll give it a 5 out of 5

"The Front Page", 1931. A remastered print on TCM. Some remarkable camera work. This one was remade twice but the original is excellent. I take an anthropologic view of American life in 1931. Very early Pat O'Brien movie. I enjoyed his movies.

Last night I finally watched Rooster Cogburn. Was what I would call a “ light western “, about a U.S. Marshall starring John Wayne and Katharine Hepburn. I’d give it a 6/10

The 2010 version of True Grit with Jeff Bridges is worth the watch if you haven't seen it.

You can't win 'em all, so 1 star for The V.I.P's, starring Burton and Taylor.. Based on a stiff and boring play by Terrence Rattigan, an assortment of boring toffs are stuck in Heathrow Airport. Not even worth rehashing the plot. One good line: The fog's so thick, even the pigeons are walking.

I enjoyed the scene of Matty Ross as a grown woman and how Rooster finished his days. "lively times", indeed, no doubt. Damon's interpretation of LeBoeuf was also quite good. Both movies did the book justice.

Sicario Day of Solado. The movie is a follow up to Sicario 2015. These movies deal with the problems of the Mexico border and we are not talking the immigrant kind. Benicio Del Toro is a ruthless killing machine working both sides of the system seeking revenge for his families death. You can really feel the tension all through the movie. If you like CIA type dramas where off the books action takes place it can be found here. 7/10 I give the first Sicario 8/10

Watched the French Connection with Gene Hackman during the night. Enjoyed the movie, especially the car chase...8.5/10
One day/night soon I need to watch Bullit with Steve McQueen. It’s been years since I’ve seen the car chase in this movie.
In your opinion which movie had the better car scene chase???

We saw the new Jurassic Whatever last weekend. Well made with good acting and excel CG. We both enjoyed it, but it was nothing like the experience of seeing Jurassic Park in the theater for the first time. Same thing with Star Wars. We saw it in a little Spanish Colonial theater in downtown Santa Fe the week it was released. Nothing was ever the same. I don't remember anything about most movies by the time I get to the truck. I am ready for something new. Anyway, Jurassic Whatever is a great flick if you are into that or need to kill a couple of hours before the PowWow starts. I want something new like the first 5 minutes of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The Egg and I. Fred McMurray & Claudette Colbert and introducing Ma & Pa Kettle. As funny as ever. On Amazon, the Egg sells for $7.50, but I found it in the $10.00 Ma & Pa Complete Comedy Collection, consisting of 10 of their movies. Great fun in a world that existed once and a nice, relaxing antidote to happenings in the world today.

I was glad the real "Popeye" had a role in it and he was good! Hackman's best movie role. Agree on both....Popeye Doyle’s role and Gene Hackman’s best movie👍👍👍 Now I want too also watch Bullit, two reasons....Steve McQueen and the car chase. I hear to many conflicting reviews/opinions on which car chase was better. I have been down 50th St. and 1st Ave. and 86th St. in Brooklyn, NY dozens of times, where the car chase from The French Connection was filmed. Hope Bullit is available on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Gene Hackman is an underrated comedy actor. I'd wager that one of his best performances (and a fun role to boot) was in Get Shorty.

Very under rated IMO. A very funny and wise movie. Having lived in LA and around people in the movie industry, it reminded me of some people. Hackman was hilarious and I am certain he loved every minute of it. I also got a laugh out of the "Ray Bones" character and the great Dennis Farina who we lost too soon. Rene Russo could not have been better or more beautiful. Delroy Lindo was a lot of fun. I was never a fan of John Travolta until this movie. He earned my respect for this role. I often use the "Look at me" line. Thank you, Elmore Leonard, for a great story.

As far as sequels go, French Connection 2, holds up pretty well. A similar film in this genre is The Seven-Ups with Roy Scheider (1973) and it has some good chase scenes too.

Took my son to a screening of the new Blade Runner sequel at the Steven Ross theater on the Warner Brothers main lot. This is a great place to watch a movie. The sound system is state of the art. The chairs are extra comfy, all sight lines are great, and the audience actually watches the film rather than behave like they're sitting in their own squalid living rooms. Blade Runner 2049 is a stunningly mesmerizing film that continues the tale of a dystopian future several decades after the events of the first film. The look of the film is ravishing, capturing the "film noir" look of the original with epic environments and seamless integration of live and digital elements. I can't say much about the plot without spoiling it, but I can say that it further enlarges the Blade Runner universe in ways that thoroughly engaged me during the over 2 hr run of the film. The critical hubbub is well deserved and this may become a classic that lives well beyond its initial release. It is certainly a classic, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I just watched this movie and couldn't agree more. They did an excellent job.
