We just watched The Last Jedi, and really enjoyed it despite our son popping in and telling us that it's a horrible movie that is the cause of everything wrong in the world. 8/10
I would agree with your son 100%.
JJ Abrams is a social justice warrior hack.
JJ Abrams should boycotted for sacrilege.
JJ Abrams is incompetent.
JJ Abrams is a nepotist.
JJ Abrams sucked the soul out Star Wars and Star Trek.
JJ Abrams replaced the "soul" with "special effects".
I am stuck watching re-runs of Star Wars and Star Trek

The Predator (2018). It's a senseless, poorly edited, confusing, plothole laden mess. It's neither smart enough to serve as a critique of the first Predator nor campy enough to match its tone. It tries to do too many things at once and besides one cute scene pretty much falls flat. Alien vs Predator is a better finished product than this.
Agree 100%
More nepotism with that movie.
Allot of people don't know this about Hollywood but it runs on Nepotism. Extreme nepotism...

Watched "Dark Matter". A sci-fi series on Netflix. Absolutely fantastic.
Just finished the last episode. It was cut off in spite of record ratings and viewcounts.
Evidently it was one of the top rated server crashing sci-fi series on Netflix ... yet it was not renewed.
Thousands of angry comments online. Who knows the real reason why. Or whose palm is getting greased.

Just saw The Death Of Stalin, a darkly hilarious and surreal retelling of the events surrounding Stalin's death and the assassination of Beria. Steven Buscemi portrays a foul mouthed, cagey Nikita Khrushchev, Michael Palin portrays Vyacheslav Molotov as a somewhat otherworldly philosopher who can't quite figure out what is going on, Jeffry Tambor portrays Georgy Malenkov as a confused weakling, and Simon Russell Beale portrays Lavrently Beria as an utterly amoral power mad opportunist. The main and supporting casts are generally fine and there is a sometimes Monty Pythonesque quality to the action. The film score is first rate as are all of the production values. It's been banned in Russia. 4 out of 5 stars.

Last movie at the theater was "Peppermint" with Jennifer Garner. It was a fun revenge movie, but not believable. I must admit that the reason I went to see it was Jennifer Garner. She is still a beauty. I'll give it 6/10.

Sadly there are not a lot of good New Movies, tried to watch the New Blade Runner when my son visited from Houston. Halfway in the movie I asked him You really watch that ๐ฉ. No he said Iโve seen it and really didnโt like it. I told him letโs watch a good a good movie and put Giant on. No Wham, POW, destroy everything, but a good story., our kids donโt stand a chance.

LOL! All those Bogey Men. Nikita has been the subject of two good movies. Bob Hoskins in "Enemy at the Gates" and Howard Da Silva in "The Missiles of October" come to mind.

I happen to like very black comedy, especially when it shreds phony societal conventions.

I watched Burden... It blew my mind, literally. What an artist. THIS is art. This guy had insight and balls... Prepare yourself. Heavy stuff. Oh Gawd, Chris Burden. Boy does that bring back memories of the early '70's when performance art was all the rage. Here was this guy maiming himself and all the art world could do was offer him more opportunities to do so, rather than any one of those phonies suggesting that he seek professional help. Did he ever succeed in killing himself? You know, this would make for a GREAT black comedy.

Watched "The Loved One", 1965, a few nights ago. The most brilliant and Blackest Comedy ever. "The movie with something to offend everyone" was the tagline from back in the day. I remember it from those days and was delighted to see it again.

I normally like black comedies but this one didn't do it so much. That said, I was with 2 other friends who hated it. I was willing to push through but they wanted to leave. I might try again and see if something changes in me... But I'm still uncultured.

I love Shane. Youโre a lowdown dirty Yankee Lair . I've never been able to warm up to Shane. The kid kinda gives me the creeps and I can't forget that Alan Ladd always had to stand on apple boxes for his close ups because he was so short. Here's a little factoid for those interested. The part of The Warner Brothers backlot that looks like a residential street is also known as 7/8ths Street because all of the structures were built at 7/8th scale. When I was shooting in that area, the reason I was given for this being done was that so many of Warner's stars in the 1940's and '50's, when the "neighborhood" was constructed, were...uhh...height challenged...so downscaling the architecture made them look taller.

I like Shane for the camera work capturing the Grand Tetons and Big Bear/Chatsworth/Topanga Canyon California one of the last films done in 1.37:1 ratio. As for the acting it takes it right out of running for one of the best films ever made.
