The black cavendish offers some brown sugar, and seems to have a little toasty quality to it. The deeply rich vanilla also seems to have a touch of caramel. The nic-hit is very light. The strength level is a hair past mild, while the taste is closer to mild than it is to medium. No chance of bite or harshness, and has no dull moments. The tobacco is quite moist, and may need some dry time, though I saw no need to do so. Burns cool, clean, and a little slow with a moderately creamy sweet, consistent flavor from start to finish. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, but no goop. Requires some relights, and the number depends on whether or not you give it any dry time. Has a pleasant after taste and room not. An easy going all day smoke that would make a good mixer, too. Four stars out of four.

Thanks, Jim, for your usual outstanding review. I do wonder if Lane Ltd. has cornered the vanilla market as they seem to use it most of their blends.

Is this something different from BCA?

Is this something different from BCA? I can tell a difference. This has less flavor nuance, but I like the toasty quality.

Thanks for the review Jim.
I think it's neat that this blend is not an expensive or exclusive blend, yet earned 4 stars.

Sounds delicious, thank you Jim! I'm looking for a good vanilla but it must be bulk. What would you recommend, this one seems light in flavor. If you could help with recommendations is sure appreciate it.

If you could help with recommendations is sure appreciate it. Sutliff has a number of them: Vanilla Cavendish, Vanilla D-40, Vanilla Royale D61. If you want chocolate: Sutliff Chocolate Mousse B30, Chocolate Supreme D54, Hot Chocolate B28.

I know you asked Jim and he has decades more experience than I do, so feel free to say "aw, who asked ya?" ....but I think McClelland's VBC is excellent. If you don't mind a soft, creamy cherry note, Lane Dark Red is a great vanilla desert smoke. Jim, I'll have to check out those recommendations, too. Which of the choc blends is your favorite?

If you don't mind a soft, creamy cherry note, Lane Dark Red is a great vanilla desert smoke. Jim, I'll have to check out those recommendations, too. Which of the choc blends is your favorite? I haven't tried McClelland VBC, so I couldn't recommend it. I didn't recommend the Dark Red because it has black cherry, too, and I was thinking strictly vanilla or strictly chocolate. Btw, Sutliff's Black Cordial Z50 is a very good, rich black cherry blend. It's hard for me to pick a favorite chocolate blend of the ones I mentioned. Maybe the Chocolate Supreme, but I think all the ones I mentioned are worthy. This is not in bulk, so I didn't recommend it, but McClelland's GKCPC Chocolate Silk is worth the money. Here's my review of it: The gold Virginias are grass and citrus, though you only mildly notice it (especially the citrus) because of the rich, deep, dark chocolate topping. The nougat topping is in the back ground. There’s just a little vanilla from the black cavendish, which is also sublimated. Has almost no nicotine. No chance of bite, and burns cool and clean. The flavoring is closer to medium than it is to strong, and there are no chemical notes. A little moist out of the tin, dry time would help the burn rate, but may lessen the strength of what you taste. I did not dry it, so it burned a little slow, and though it required fewer relights than I expected, you can count on needing them. The flavor is very creamy smooth and consistent with no dull or harsh moments. Leaves a bit of moisture in the bowl. The after taste is very pleasant as is the room note. An easy going all day smoke that is silky as the name claims.

Thanks. JimInks. I guess I'll have to try 'em all! The Sutliff Black Cordial, too. Not a fan of McClelland's version.

Thanks for the review. I have smoked this since first week of intoduction. It has steadily risen up the sales chart and looks to be one of Lane's fastest selling Bulk blends. I would note that Jim gave this a 4 star rating, something he doesn't often do with Aromatic's. It is a well realized blend, with enough quality to please new or experienced pipers and it continues to please without wearing out its welcome. I have reordered it 3 times, doubling the quantity with each order and have not regretted that decision.

One of my favorite aros, by itself and mixed with other blends.

I have come to realize that Lane is very underrated for their aromatics. Inexpensive does not mean cheap.

...I don't normally post any thing negative but the use/overuse of Vanilla seems to be rampant...I know most tobacco takes Vanilla very well...I just get tired of the Vanilla scent in so many tobaccos...
