The two Hardcastles that I've that I've acquired over the last year were initially nothing for me to get overly excited about. Hey, they're Hardcastles and even Pipepedia does not have a high placement for them in the scheme of things. I now have found, however, after some invariably pleasant smokes from my two Hardcastles, that these at least have proven to be surprisingly fine values. I've found no flaws or fills and they're both fine smokers. One of them I even got unsmoked. For that reason, when I found another Hardcastle on ebay offered Buy It Now for a very reasonable price imo, I pulled the trigger on my third Hardcastle and my second Royal Bruyere. A 513 stack/chimney billiard. I just got it today and upon inspection I see the same outward qualities and internal engineering of the other two. So, I'm currently just waiting for the whiskey swab to evaporate completely before I put it to work. They may be seconds or sub-brands, but Parker and Hardcastle are proving a very good value for me.

Nice looking pipe. I hope it smokes as well as your others.

If you hit it right, they can smoke just as good (or almost)as the expensive ones. Looks like you hit it right!

Way to go! There's nothing quite like finding a second string brand pipe that is free of fills, has good grain, and smokes great. A favorite of mine are the Comoy's Sunrise line of pipes; I have managed to find a few that are without fills and smoke good.

I've never had a Hardcastle pipe, but I love billiards and that is a great looking one! Congrats, enjoy!

I have an 801. It's my preferred flakepipe! (and +1 on the Comoy's Sunrise, too)
