Recently I posted 'Tongue Bite, What's Your Excuse?'. As I thought about it, many of you offered comments as to the causes of it, and/or preventing it it. But now, to take it a step further, what do you do for Tongue Bite? Do you stop smoking, use water, soda, booze, or whatever? Please post your remedies. Hope it will be interesting to hear your responses!

I consider myself fortunate that I very seldom if ever experience tongue bite. This is not because I have leather tongue or even some refined technique. It's simply that I tend to stick to blends I know and have experience with.
That being said, on the rare occasions I make the idiotic decision to smoke something that is almost guaranteed to give me tongue bite, I rely on Biotine. I find it does the trick, soothes the tongue and mouth and eliminates any extended "can't smoke" situations.

OTC - I can't remember the last time Carter Hall bit anybody.

I don't get bit as much as I used to. But occasionally a MacBaren blend or a bright Virginia sneaks up on me and I get a case of it. When I do get tongue bite, I like to drink something bubbly like a beer or a soft drink. I like to take a sip and hold it in my mouth for a while until it stops fizzing. It is uncomfortable at first, but the more I do it, the more the discomfort lessens.

The fact that you you seldom if ever experience tongue bite reflects upon your knowledge and experience of the art! I have heard of using Biotene, but never really tried that.Thank You for sharing this.

I drink a lot of water, tea, coffee, or whatever. Keeping my mouth hydrated seems to help. And plus one on the Biotene.

I try to stay away from that biting fellow but, when I do smoke Virginas I always have a cup of coffee with cream by my side. I have with every pipe unless I'm on the tractor and find it not only goes well with what I smoke but, also helps stop a little nip I get every now and then.

Having recently received a gift of some 30 or so samples, I've been trying one or two every couple of days. Some of em absolutely Scorch me. Unless it's a great flavor otherwise, I dump it and move on to Number Next! (Life's too short to put up with tongue/mouth bite)
If I'm trying to suffer through it I pour a glass of Pinot Noir and ease my way through.

I rarely get a serious case - just some annoying discomfort. I usually smoke with coffee, so I think that helps especially since I drink it with milk. I've read honey is a good cure, but that alcohol and fizzy drinks can make it worse,.

sometimes I still smoke a blend too wet and/or too fast and get some bite. JimInks recommended an apple between blends to keep the taste buds fresh. that has worked for me and I noticed has helped with relieving tongue bite. otherwise black tea with a little milk and sugar seems to help me.

Tongue bite is horrible +1 on Biotene. I will even gargle it at midbowl if a tobac is persistently nippy. Cranberry juice is also helpful and compliments some blends, in addition to being good for you. For a quick mouth refresher, I find lemon drops to be helpful between smokes as well.

Usually whatever I'm drinking helps relieve minor discomfort. If it ever gets worse I just force myself to slow to a snail's pace until I'm done with that bowl, and a few times I've dumped it out. And then I avoid that blend.
