Shame about the burn because they are simply a fantastic smoke.
Agreed. I will have to grab another one (from Holts next time) and also in my preferred size, as the toro is not typically it.
Grab some Master Blends and some Anejos while you’re there. Holts has the best prices on them, even in their B&M

Sitting on the patio, enjoying a bit of a cool down with a Padron Cortico maduro. @psycholime, you were not lying. Great cigar. This will be getting stocked in my humidor for sure.

Enjoying an A. Fuente Curlyhead Natural with morning coffee. What a nice smoke for a short filler stick made with scraps. Simple and tasty.

Finished cutting Ponderousa this morning smoking a Gurkha Evil, dry leathery smoke, stays lit, reminds me of smells in a leather and saddle shop. Cool front for a day more then heat, humidity back again.

Just finished a Steve Saka Sobremesa in 4.75 x 48 ... started strong but didn't progress much flavor-wise. There were some burn issues as well that kept me busy correcting. All in all a tasty smoke but at $11 a pop I expect a little more.

Last night was pipe club. Good time as always, and we got to see the completed Father the Flame movie. Had a few cigars, first was an Upmann Vintage Cameroon which was a disappointment simply in that I think I got a dud. Draw was fine, construction appeared fine, but I could not get the thing to burn or produce any smoke. It just sat there like an incense stick. Second was a Oliva V series corona. Great stick. Full bodied, but smooth and tons of flavor. Last was one of my go to's, Upmann Reserve corona which smoke wonderfully all the time.

Got home from a nice steak dinner at some friends, made a pot of Cafe Bunuelo coffee, had a cuppa Cuban style and treated myself to one of my Cuban Punch Punch cigars my friend from Venezuela brings me every year. the Cubans certainly know how to make a cigar !

Last night I tried the new "Viva la Vida" by Artesano del Tobacco (under the AJ Fernandez name).
It was pretty good but seemed a little fresh still.
Main flavors coming through are dark currant and leather with only a little pepper.
Moral of the story from these two recent sticks ... I'll keep rolling my own.

I wish I could find one of those old black wrapper Nicaraguan Double Coronas from the 1970s. Strong, a little harsh but tasty.
