I wanted to share a new chance buy with you guys.
I was browsing in a local tobacco shop when I noticed they had a few cheap pipes in the window. I asked the lady shopkeeper to let me take a look, and she was very willing. We had to dust them off a little bit, as they are not exactly hot stuff in the shop. One in particular caught my interest, a sturdy-built bent shape with a rustic finish. Turns out, it's a Lorenzo; from what I've been able to gather, they are budget pipes made in Italy, with quite some history behind the brand, given they are so cheap.
Unforunately, I've only been able to take a few shaky photos at this time of day.
I'm including some stock photos of a similar model with a different mouthpiece, so you can see the inside of the bowl. Probably to hide the imperfections of the bowl, it comes pre-carbonized. To my surprise, there are absolutely NONE weird smells, or tastes, lingering throughout the whole pipe.
All in all, very comfortable to handle, well-built, good airflow, and, like I mentioned, no foul smell or plastic taste going on in the stem. And you know what's the best part?
It cost me a whopping 17 euros, which would be just under 20 dollars.
I'm raring to try some new blends and have been looking for a pipe I can do that with, without ghosting my Peterson & Savinelli, or burning a whole in my wallet. Seems like I found just the thing with these great budget briars! Although I spent some time in the shop inspecting the pipes closely, for the price it was definitely worth it. I'm closing this off with the new Lorenzo, happily resting in my cozy, handmade basket o' pleasure, courtesy of my DearGrandma Industries Inc.
And for those who look closely at the last photo... there might be some eggs. Just sayin'.
