I love chocolate, the darker the better. I thought I would love chocolate aromatics, but so far I've been less than wowed. But now I'm looking for recommendations for blends that have cocoa added. I'm not talking sweet aromatics like Sutliff chocolate truffle or McClelland darkest chocolate. More like Bob's Chocolate Flake but without the Latakia or Lakeland essence. Any suggestions?

If you want aromatics I recall a Boswells ... chocolate cream I think it was. There is always Bobs Chocolate Flake if you want more substance.

H&H Chatham Manor smells like a tub of Hershey's chocolate milk mix when you pop it.

Feel like doing some cooking? Mix 1 TBSP Hershey's Chocolate Syrup into 1 Ounce of DI Water Take your favorite Burley and spread it out onto a cookie sheet. Heat up the oven to 120F and place the tobacco in there. After about 20 minutes, take it out and spritz with your topping. Return to the oven and repeat this process a few times. On the last round, spritz VERY lightly (just enough to rehydrate) and place in a jar for a few weeks.

I'm not looking for a candy sweet aromatic. Just something with more of a true chocolate essence.

Kracken, if you want to use cocoa powder use the ones for baking. They have less sugar and a higher quality cocoa.

Too bad Bob's doesn't do the trick because for me it's just what you described. Have you tried the SG version, Chocolate Flake? It's probably a bit less Lakelandy, and I don't really detect the Latakia in it.

+1 on Chatham Manor. HU Mahkuwa is a fabulous flake with Malawi Burley and cocoa in the topping. Neither of these are aros. GL Pease' Stonehenge flake has cocoa in it topping along with a bit of lakeland essence. Definitely not a gooper.

Shame that candy cane cocoa is back ordered. I had some chocolate mint from McClelland... could not taste

Had not given them much thought before. Thank you

I have two chocolate/cocoa favorites. One is SG Bob's Chocolate Flake, which I like for itself, aside from the chocolate or lack thereof. But for what is for me a real cocoa taste: the under-the-radar Spaniola's Chocolate Cube Burley from Paul's Pipe Shop in Flint, Michigan.

Is this the method used to flavor a tobacco with alcohol as well, such as rum?

GH & Co. Bob's Chocolate Flake, SG Chocolate Flake, GLP Stonehenge Flake, Sutliff has a few like a chocolate mousse but I haven't tried those.

Maybe you could take the stave out of a tin of fmc, mix some chocolate liqueur half and half with Everclear to up your proof, and soak the stave in it overnight. Put it in with the test blend for a couple weeks and give it a try.
