Awesome work, it must be quite a challenge to make a pipe with a stem of them proportions, without having a calamity ensue.
What a beaut.

Really beautiful! Does she reinforce those thin stems with metal tubing, or not?

Really beautiful! Does she reinforce those thin stems with metal tubing, or not? No worries. Found the answer. Now the question is, are ALL the pencil shanked pipes reinforced with stainless steel tubing?

I own 5 of Scottie's pipes, two of them commissioned, and all are excellent smokers. Scottie has the right attitude, always looking to improve and expand her skills. Scottie's pipes always show very careful attention to detail, with perfect fit and finish and really great stem work. She's also one of the very few pipemakers who has developed a personal style, instantly recognizable, based on traditional 19th century shapes. Here's one of my favorites, a Canadian that is about 8 1/2" in length with a coral juma stem. Oh wow! I really like that pipe, Jesse. I agree, she has an amazing style with those long, thin, pencil shanks and stemwork. I want to get a Bing from her but almost would prefer a really long shank like this one you've got. Love those Bing-esque pipes she makes.

Thanks for the love, guys!! Really beautiful! Does she reinforce those thin stems with metal tubing, or not? No worries. Found the answer. Now the question is, are ALL the pencil shanked pipes reinforced with stainless steel tubing? All of my pencil shanks are stainless steel lined. I cannot speak for everyone else.

I was gifted this lovely Piersel Saucer. Great pipe! Her Oom Paul was on Blue Room Briars and a week before I had the money to buy it, someone else snagged it. I figured if a lady was going to have an oom paul, a Piersel one was the one to have. Very disappointing

OK, so 3 or 4 scotches into the night I saw this scotty Dublin on her site. I t looked great so I ordered it. Did I look at the dimensions" Nope. It showed up and I thought it was a kid's bubble pipe. The scotty is on the bottom. The top pipe is a "normal" billiard by Mastro de Paja. Turns out that the little Dublin give a nice 45 minute smoke and is perfect for club meetings for tastings. Anyway, lesson learned. I only buy pipes after 2 scotches.

I can tell...in that pic you have blurry vision. Been there, done that...down side for you is you have a great pipe!...I love the small bowls for flakes, amazing how long of a smoke you can get. had a co-worker that went to an auction after drinking...the same model of BMW motorcycle (featured in a James Bond movie) that was unavailable at the time in dealerships...late nineties early 2000...he maxed out a credit card that he had to post up to get a bidding number....he sang the blues after that.
