Dunhill Nightcap, H&H Vintage Syrian are my two most cellared English blends.
When I think of blends that improve with age, reflexively I find myself thinking of Virginia variants, and there is no mistaking that many of them do get much better. Steve Fallon (Pipestud) wrote a piece back about how aged English blends rule the roost on prices people are willing to pay on aged tobacco's.... exhibit one would be an old tin of Balkan Sobranie. Aging mutes the Latakia, and I think that must appeal to many.
My only experience with aged English was a really old tin of Royal Jersey... it was exquisite.

The only smoke I enjoy with any Latakia is Penzance. It is the only one I can taste sugar in. I wish I could find more English tobaccos that have a sugary taste.

I should clarify I suppose that by sugar I am talking about Virginia sweet not a casing. In case anybody forgot I like the Sweet VA's.

You mean like this Red Flue Cured Virginia that I turned into sugary goodness, aka Cavendish?
I'll see if there is some left to toss in with that other blend.

Some of these might not qualify, depending on that perennial can o'worms "what is an English blends?" Some might be called aros or crossovers, others Oriental blends, and 123 has cigar leaf.
McConnell's Oriental 3 Oaks Syrian Pembroke Penzance Frog Morton Orig. & Cellar Bombay Court Robert Lewis 123 PS Balkan Supreme

Just had some GLP Westminster last night and really enjoyed it. I also like Esoterica's Penzance and Margate. Also Dunhill's Nightcap.

Frog Cellar & Dunhill Nightcap are my faves, but I'm not very sophisticated when it comes to Englishes.

I have quite a few that I like very much: H&H Blackhouse, Robert Lewis Tree Mixture, C&D Constellation, Dunhill Standard Mixture, E. Hoffman Co. Spilman Mixture, J.Fl Germain King Charles Smoking Mixture, and Peter Stokkebye Proper English. There are others that I like ok but too many too mention, but I'll give Presbyterian a bit of a shout-out too.

I haven't delved into English tobaccos much, but I have tried a couple Lat blends that I liked.
The more traditional(I think) are Frog Morton on the Town & Nightcap.
The others with Latakia are MM American Patriot & Hearth & Home American Heritage.

Seriously, what's an English Blend? Anything with Lat?

Good question, Mark. Most Americans associate English with latakia but that isn't necessarily so. At one time the British government established a sort on-f ourity law that dictated what could be used in English blends. Many did not contain latakia or Balkan leaf. It's been a long time debate and a worthy one.

It's been a long time debate and a worthy one. Very true. One example of this is MacBaren HH Old Dark Fired. In the notes section of this blend at TR.com this is stated: One of the most fascinating parts about this tobacco that will be sure to confuse a lot of American pipe smokers is that, despite the fact that HH Old Dark Fired contains zero latakia, Mac Baren still considers it an English because of the method used in its production, specifically the steam press.

Kind of similar to IPAs in that a heavily hopped beer can be called IPA, though it is not specifically produced for export to India. It just kind of came to represent a familiar aspect? Colloquialism is maybe the term I'm looking for. At any rate, it would be cool to read more on the subject.
