Perhaps this sounds funny but I have zero problem smoking Dunhill blends, where other English blends tend to bite. Does anyone else have this same experience? I'm not sure what the reason could be.

Interesting comment. I'm not sure that the constituent tobaccos are all that different from other blends but if they work for you then stick with them.

Is that case with all of Dunhill's English blends?

Is that case with all of Dunhill's English blends? Mostly. EMP will get me if it is too moist, otherwise 965, standard mix, royal yacht, nightcap, flake, apertif, etc all work for me. Most English with latakia will get me at least a little, but not Dunhill.

Pretty deep rabbit hole but wondering your thoughts on Esoterica/Germain English? The reason I ask is because Dunhill has never worked for me except for Dunhill Flake which is one of my favorite Virginia Flakes.

I have this exact same problem with C&D burleys. Other burleys I can tolerate, but C&D's taste like flaming sandpaper to me.

These sound like pH issues ... personal body chemistry.
Some people can't handle Virginias at all while others can't handle any Burley.
Others can smoke Bright leaf or Lemon but not Red FCV ... or Dark Fired but not Natural Burley.
It's most likely that Dunhill's tobaccos and casings are, in general, more suitable to your own pH.

English blends are very forgiving on my mouth, I don't think I have ever gotten tongue bite from an english blend, and I enjoy all the Dunhill offerings, Nightcap is probably my favorite.

I thought it was a typo. I love that it's an actual word.

...agreed on the pH issue...I too have trouble smoking many of the C&D and McC Burley's...and many folks complain about MacBaren Burley's...but I have no issues with MacBaren or many of the other manufacturers Burley's..

Unless I'm mistaken, Ted is speaking strictly in terms of English Blends? No?

I have never had an English blend bite. Try Hearth & Home Namaste. (and that should be the official tongue bite emoji!)

I have never had an English blend bite. It's just so funny how our chemistry can be so different from the next person. Some English blends can just ruin my day. Almost all Virginia blends work very well. I know that isn't the case for everyone.
