When Captain Black Dark first came out, I bought a box of 6 from P&C. While I thought that it was pretty good in it's own right, I thought that it had just the right flavor to mix with other tobaccos. I've added it in small quantities to Dunhill Standard Mixture Mellow, MacBaren Scottish Blend, Cherry Cavendish, Buttered Rum, and some brand of Coconut tobacco that i had jarred. In each and every instance, the addition of the CB Dark really rounded out and improved the flavors of these tobaccos, while not taking away the main character or flavor of the original blend. How many of you have created your own mixtures, and what were they???

I can vouch for Crapgame's Cherry Bomb.
I made a tobacco burger (my stab at a crumble cake) with some vanilla and fruity/nutty tobys for a Christmas experience. I put raisins and allspice in it. Then came the Orientals, Latakia, and Perique. Oh, molasses, too. I managed to dry some of it out. Was like a firecracker in my mouth. Second time I mixed it with 1Q. Still got a major nic hit, which did overwhelm the flavors, but they were there. What's left of the tobacco burger is wandering around the house unattended.

The best blend I've made so far is 50/50 Stokkebye's Luxury Twist Flake and Daughters and Ryan Three Sails. The Three Sails adds to the LTF volume but doesn't ruin it's flavor; it just smooths it out a bit.

I've tried mixing blends. Some how it just never seemed to turn out right so I don't try any more. I'm with Larry on this. However, one of my blends survived: A 50:50 per volume mix of Leonard Dingler's Horseshoe (A local OTC of fine ribbon cut air flued dark Virginia that kicks like a mule) and MacBaren Black Ambrosia. I dubbed it Van Hunks . Can't stand the two aforementioned tobaccos on their own, but Van Hunks sits just right with me once in a while.

Wessex Burley Slice spiked with Butera's Royal Vintage Sweet Cavendish has been a go to for me this year. It was inspired by Uhle's #300 which is a little sweeter than their #00 and Perfection Plug offerings. It made me wonder what Wessex Burley Slice would taste like if sweetened up a little bit? The combo has worked well for my palate.

I've never mixed up a whole batch, but I've mixed up combos for a bowl's worth. My favorite repeat recipe is mixing Rattray's exotic orange with a little SG coconut twist. I've also had recent success with a mixture of Kendal Gold Vanilla and Esoterica Kingsbridge.

A few years ago, I started blending other blends together and really enjoyed it. So, I started ordering my own blending components and creating my own blends. Then, it dawned on me that these were shredded up leaves and I could do the same thing for half the cost. Along came whole-leaf and it's a blast making my own flakes, ropes, snuff, dip, etc ...
Here's one I pressed awhile back called Coffee House Flake. It's Red and Lemon FCV with a light casing that included some Ginger and Cinnamon. (the "ready rubbed" version is on the right)

Codger's Trifecta: equal 1/3 of Sutliff: J4 Burley, Red Ribbon Virginia, Burley Delight. Can be smoked young, improves with some aging.
The Big Easy: 50/50 Lane: BCA/1-Q
Stokkebye Black Cavendish is a useful blender. Being less sweet and non-sticky it is very versatile and compatible with many tobaccos. I have also used it to rescue blends that were problematic. Combined with Stokkebye bulk Cherry, it makes a nice Red & Black mix that is not too Cherry forward.

A home blend that I smoke often enough to give it a name: Pegasus River = 2 parts C&D Pegasus + 1 part C&D Green River Vanilla
An interesting blend which I never named: 1 part McC Arcadia + 1 part McC Aurora

Sometimes I like to mix LNF with Irish Flake, one flake each. ODF or Irish Flake with OGS, 2 parts OGS to the others.
