Sub Title: Give my Regards to Bond Street
Ever since I was a wee broth of a punk I used to look at all the Codger Blends that were more or less all unflavored junk to me. However, I loved some of the art on the boxes and tins. In particular I liked the art on Bond Street, later renamed Bourbon Street. I recently picked up a vintage tin. While I was lighting up I looked up Jim's review.
Soap, perfume, 1 star.
Every review of Jim's I read and agree with. This one was no different, save one thing: All of the negatives he pointed out were all positive to me. Goes to show how objective a review he gives, and I can trust the words he uses. That I liked what he did not does not lessen the accuracy of the review, it actually enhances it.
The art on Bond Street reminds me of everything from Dickensian art to George Cohan's Give my regards to Broadway. And, I still have almost 14 ounces left to enjoy.
Jim, you are one Yankee Doodle Dandy!

I look at reviews as guidelines to find out what someone's impressions are of how the parts add up to the whole. There are many times that I scratch my head wondering what I'm missing in certain blends and then there are the ones that give the "aha" moment when what I thought is spot on. So, I get where you're coming from. The main thing I appreciate about Jim's reviews, and several others, is that he's neither a basher or a gusher over any blend. Well, except in the case of Strang. Jim let's the number of stars he appoints speak to his judgement. Finally, I smoked Bond Street in the early 1970's and swore it was a sub-brand of Proctor & Gamble. It definitely has its fans so to each his own. As it turns out I have developed a taste for Lakelands over the past couple of years, so there may be help for me yet. Enjoy the rest of you tub of Bond Street.

Jim, you are one Yankee Doodle Dandy! As John alluded to in his comments, my reviews are only guides, not recommendations or rejections. I don't rate for my personal tastes, either. If I did, a ton of my reviews would read differently and be rated differently. Even in the case of Strang, which is a fav of mine, I don't say in the review that I think it's "the best durn tobacco made today". I only say that when I post in the WAYS thread when I'm having a bowl. Sometimes, I don't think I should even do that, but it's become a tradition.
