I'm mostly a wine guy, but... JTS Brown bourbon (economical), and Stranahans Colorado whisky (less economical). I have looked for JTS Brown for years. Seems it never makes it west of the Mississippi. Fast Eddy Felson's brand. Have to try it sometime.

Too bad you all aren't local (to me) we could share a bottle.

I would. A fifth and a pipe is often better when shared.

Jim Beam Black is just fine with me. Really miss the green label choice 8 year old though.

JTS's besides bottled in bond is only 80 proof. Elijah Craig and Echo Williams are about the same. Echo is one of the brands that HH uses to sell their overages more cheaply.

Also, if you can find any cheap KSBW that says Double Gentled it has a good chance of being the overages of Maker's Mark

It was easy to find so either that movie keeps it go or, less likely, a lot of people really like it.

I tried it because of the movie, of course. But it's pretty good, and at less than 15 bucks bottled in bond....you can't beat it. Cheaper than old grandad bonded, and a touch sweeter.

Priced below Jim Beam white label but aged two years longer, it was very good. Glad to know it is JTS B in another label. I asked the owner to re-stock it but no luck. Cooperation is not a value embraced by many in northern NM.

Just had Old Forester's. It was decent but for the money and the taste I'd go with Bulleit or Buffalo Trace. Same cost better finish.

Red wine. 2 buck chuck to Latour. Depends on the mood, the meal and the wallet! Gin is my go to liquor. Hendricks, Bulldog, EG ( Edinburgh gin) Cannonball. You can get it in the U.S.😕 While in Edinburgh where I discovered the cannonball. I also discovered Scotch. I lean to the smokey ones so Laphroaig is big on my list. Vodka? Aren't day off breakfast bloody Mary's just part of life?😄

Hi Ron, Yes, I didn't list a proof by it, but my thrust was that bourbon at anything less than B&B or 86 proof has a big flavor loss. Similar to Beefeater vs Gilby's (usually 80)

Similar mooto Beefeater vs Gilby's (usually 80) I actually miss read your post. Now that I looked at it again, you were already correct. Sorry. Ron Yes, Gin or vodka minimum 90 proof, whisky or whiskey minimum 86 proof. 86 is an odd number chosen because it is the lowest proof that will remain unclouded without being cold filtered.

When I turned 21 my father gave me a bottle of Old Ezra, I believe 15YO and corked. Medley Bros. Still distilled it then.
