I am in the middle of a Vermont Meat Candy smoke. I bought it because I wanted to compare it to Bacon Baccy from Briar Works. I think I like it even better. How many of you would consider a savory smoke? Here are some examples: The two mentioned, Bacon and Vermont. These are not salty tobaccos, just smoky Hickory was an old Drugstore Blend, but P&C's match is perfectly fine. You really get the hickory without all the extra notes. Corn Cob Pipe and Button Nose is a total Cluster Fluke of flavors, many undiscovered by me. Days of Yore has a savory tin note, but I am not getting much in taste. I am breaking in my pipes, so that may be an issue. Not getting a lot from PS Pistachio either, also the same with Lane Ltd Hazelnut.... BUT Low Country Hazelnut is totally stoked with flavor and I love it. McClelland Pastry. Yes, considered savory by me, as it is a bread taste. Really nice.
Any suggestions? Note that Savory is not salty. We have Shandygaff for that. Savory is actually sweet, but has a ham or meat or chopped nuts component were there is more nut and less sweet.
I am really getting hooked on these. Just my ramblings.

One of my first bulk blends! I like to bring it out for guests to enjoy the room note. For me, it can be a tad bitey if I get too greedy, but if smoked slow, I really like it. I wanna stock up for hunting camp. Smoke it while I'm cooking breakfast for my friends.
Curious as to what it would be like if I blended some with some Latakia to really add the smokey aspect of bacon.
Interested to see what people recommend. I'd like to try a few more myself.

Ixnay on the atakialay. I would almost want to put some cracked pepper or Perique in it, but I think this could be easily overwhelmed. Maybe Liquid Smoke? 1/10000000000 of a drop

David, I am not a huge Latakia fan myself, it just doesn't agree with me. That being said, if used very sparingly, you can get some amazing hints of smoke, equivalent to what you would get with a drop of liquid smoke, without all the unknowns of adding something like that to your tobacco.
If you are totally adverse to Latakia, consider adding some Dark Fired Kentucky to some of your sweet blends to add that savory note. DFK is smoked with American woods, so you are likely to get the traditional "smoked" flavors that you might experience in good BBQ.
I have added Latakia or DFK in minuscule amounts to blends like Corn Cob Pipe and the results are truly fantastic.

C&D Yorktown should be up your alley for a sweet, smooth VA that has plenty of bready flavor and low on the nicotine, David. It's very good and very underrated.

The slightest hint of either can add a bit of nuance that works differently with each blend.
