While perusing a local online page, I saw that a guy was selling a pipe, when I enquired further he had 8 pipes and a pipe stand...not bad for a C-Note. He was asking $20.00 for each pipe, and $40 for the pipe stand...I am not really a good horsetrader, but he is a worse seller than I am a horsetrader. The ashtray has never been used, it appears. First up is what I believe is a pre-transition Barling, not the holy grail line, but for the price, it works. A "Navigator" made in Denmark, 1253A Made by Kriswill in the 60's and 70's as is the later Kriswill posted. pipedia.org/wiki/KriswillNext up are two Brakner's...Don was the first to clue me in, and I bought one from Smokingpipes and it is a fantastic smoker! Both of these are listed as antique" Some neat info on the antique designation: www.vkpipes.com/pipeline/brakner-antique-2Excerpt: I recommend readin the whole blog though...he learned from the best! Crappy pic of this brakner, the rustication is much more defined than the pic would suggest. Simply "Made in England" do not have a clue as to the maker. Sasieni 4 dot Hurlingham. The funny thing about this pipe is that I have the box and sock for this pipe...won them both in a brick and mortar auction that had a lot of odds and ends a couple years back. And a Kriswell "Bernadotte" Made in Denmark (again, crappy pic...looks much sharper in real life) Last but not least, is this "Windjammer" pipe made by a guy named Justin who hearkens from Philly...it had a ton of carbon on the rim tht is coming off easy...no char marks, so I think that it is safe to assume that the previous owner liked it so much that he loaded it to capacity to enjoy the experience. pipedia.org/wiki/Windjammer_PipesAll in all, a pretty good deal...all of these should be an easy clean, no oxidized stems and no vile lip venom marks...and whoever owned them wasnt a biter/clencher like you see on many estates. The best part is, he says he has eight more pipes...makes sense since the pipe rack holds 16 pipes.

That is great, Charlie! Some wonderful pipes in that score. Two Brakners in one purchase is awesome enough, but a Sasieni, a Barling and more on top of that? Get out out of here, you lucky son of a gun! Happy for you, brother.

Seeing a Ben Franklin is a rare occurance for this married guy...lucky to get away with that purchase.
As I was gloating, the wife said "But they all look the same" 😀

Very well done, Charlie. So, you're the other guy with an authentic Windjammer. I stole this one from under lestrout's nose when Justin stayed at our house a few years ago. The lad makes a great pipe.

Charlie, what does the nomenclature look like on that Windjammer? There was another company producing these from sometime back in the 50's, so there is a chance you have one of those and not mine. That pipe stand would look nice next to my rocker in my office

Oddly enough, when I chose that name, I was not aware that it had been used before. There is little if nothing on the net about it even now. It was picked for my love of sailing. Who knew.

I am a sailing 'wanna be' too. I once owned a 26 foot trailerable rig.
And the word is windjammer when it pertains to a sailboat type of thing.

Charlie, any update on your summer haul? Curious to find out if thise Brakners are getting smoked. Any favorites out of the bunch you acquired in August? The Brakner's are really excellent smokers, a click above the Navigator, the Saseini Four Dot ruff root Huringham is also a very good smoker. The Saseini has a sooty rim that I still need to work on a bit, but the rest of the rims are very clean. I was fortunate that the previous owner was pretty fastidious in caring for my pipes, and/or the guy that sold them to me (non smoker) did a really good job cleaning them up.....I think it is more the former than the latter. This is post waxing them by hand, no polishing wheel. L to R: Saseini, Kriswell Navigator, Brakner, Brakner, No Name Made In England Dublin has a pretty decent blast on it, and is also a good smoker. These are the best of the herd. The others are certainly decent enough smokers that I do take to work, but the ones pictured above are saved for smokes at home and when out and about...pipe club meetings, etc...
