My little Honey Master (Mastercraft? ) estate pipe with the stuck stem has recovered! A few hours in the freezer and a scary, squeeky removal and the stem is OUT. I was able to refit the stem to the shank with a little work using a diamond file, diamond reamer for the shank and a bit of abrasive pad. Some wax and it is a perfect fit now. More good news, now that I look closely at the pipe. I bet it wasn't smoked but a few times at most. The yellow bowl coating is still in the bowl, only showing black about halfway down the bowl. Now for a good cleanup and test.

Glad that worked for you. Those are always trying moments.

I'm glad it worked for you. I didn't have that luck a few months ago with the stem I couldn't get back on one of my Canadians. But a tiny bit of sanding with a dismantled nail file did the trick for me.

I ruined an old Yellow-bole trying to get the stem loose once. I tried the freezer trick a couple of times and torqued it a little bit too much and pieces of briar went everywhere. A sickening feeling when you break a pipe. I should have tried smoking it to loosen it up.
