I enjoy model trains and model in several scales, including 1:24. Today some of my little 1:24 people joined my Pipe Hobby. What fun!

Iv'e been into photography for over 45 years and have amassed lots of equipment. So to combine my hobbies, I sell some of my old equipment and buy new pipes. Like this:

Sometimes I drink a beer I brewed and smoke a blend I created in a pipe I made.

Remember those little plastic models you built as a kid? I figured as I'm grown now, might be able to make decent ones, so I picked the hobby back up. I have about 150 of 'em. I model 1/72 WWII vehicles, planes, guns and ships (I have a U-Boat; it's huge). In 1/72, an inch equals six feet, so I would be exactly one onch high. The advantage of 1/72 is they're cheap: tanks are only about $15, while a bomber may be $35, so you can buy more models. Also, they take up less shelf space when they're assembled. I'm not very good, but I ain't trying to win competitions, it's just fun for me. Here's the first with his base coat on and ready for weathering, a late model Jagdpanzer; I love those things. The house key is for scale. To give you an idea of how tiny and fiddly the parts are, that silver periscope sticking up out of the open hatch is four pieces! Here's a British Crusader. The antenna is a paintbrush bristle, there's a toilet paper and Elmer's White Glue bedroll, and the crumpled fender in front of the idler is foil from a wine bottle. Obligatory halftrack. This one's going to have a 75mm AT gun when it's done. Front wheels should never be straight. US 155mm Long Tom artillery cannon, unlimbered and ready to fire. You can limber him and put him on the back of an M5 Tractor, which looks pretty cool. Standard Hellcat Navy fighter ready for paint. The machine guns are hollowed out with the tip of a #11 scalpel. Early model Marder. The gun's not finished or attached because I have to paint the interior first. The little box with holes in it is etched brass. It comes flat and you have to fold it up. Looks like I need to take a needle and clear some of the base coat out of the holes. The tracks come in individual links and you'll see I suck at them. Schwimmwagen, Kettenkrad and motorbike guy. Forgot to turn the wheels. Bad Dave. Finally, an obligatory Panther with his base coat on ready for weathering.

I've had a lot of hobbies including model building and model railroading (wish I never sold it all off) but, nowadays I reckon you could say pipemaking is my hobby but, I seldom get to smoke one. What I consider flawed ones usually get given or thrown away but, I did happen to keep one for myself that is currently in my rotation and serves me very well. It had a pit that I could see light through to the inside of the chamber so I had to plug it and couldn't sell it.

What's funny about that is, so is making the little tanks. Very peaceful and methodical, just hours of careful sanding with little needle files. I like the little roses on the er, shawl? Coat? Jacket? Never seen a rose blow up a building though

I made a model Airwolf helicopter as a teenager, lol.
The designer called it a cardigan. Hubby is a combat engineer, so I'm sure if we put our heads together we can come up with exploding roses
