You can only cellar 20 lbs of tobacco, no more, no less. For some of us it's a "wow, that much??!!" amount and for others it's a "I can't possibly imagine that little" amount. 20 lbs is the total you can cellar. When your cellar dips below 20, you can restock once every 5 years. You're smoking from your cellar, no outside sales. No wiggle room. What are your picks? What would you favor?
McCranies - Red Ribbon - 2 lb Motzek - Strang - 2 lb HU - Makhuwa - 3 tins - 10.5oz Gl Pease - Haddo's Delight - 2 lb H&H - Chatham Manor - 2 tubs - 1 lb 12 oz Esoterica - Dunbar - 2 lb Esoterica - Dorchester - 2 lb RO - Perique Series GP-11 - 12 tins - 1 lb 5oz D&R - Acadian Bright - 2 tubs - 12oz Brigham - Klondike Gold - 5 tins - 8.25oz GL Pease - Telegraph Hill - 2 lb GL Pease - Union Square - 2 lb HU Director's Cut - 5 tins - 17.5 oz
Mine's about an ounce under, I think. I was kind of rushing this because I have errands to run. But I'll make due.
If the math is more than you're willing to deal with, skip it. But the process is interesting in that it makes you evaluate your choices and what blends you really favor. For lovers of puzzles, you may find this interesting.

Smoking an average of 2lbs. a month, this sounds like a working definition of Hell.

I gave my typical smartassed answer elsewhere, but will treat it seriously here. I thought about it and realized it is an intriguing thought. Here goes with disclaimers:
2 Pounds of Brigadier Black Alamo - Unless I can find an equivalent Nougat 2 Pounds of Corn Cob Pipe & Button Nose 2 Pounds of Vermont Meat Candy 2 Pounds of Carter Hall 2 Pounds of Chatham Manor 2 Pounds of Sweet Cask 2 pounds of Five Brothers 2 Pounds of Bourbon Street Match 1 Pound of Whitehall Black Tie - Unless I can find one as smooth and it is smooth 1 pound of Mixture 79 1 Pound of yet to find Peach 1 Pound of Cherry that I may have to order from Crapgame, as his worked best. Woof Woof!
I did not mention my Tinder Box Blends. They are dear to me, and aged ten years. But I can't fathom paying that price for them anymore. I have 8 pz to a pound of three blends, anyway.

Twenty pounds works out to around 160 tins.
So, I would grab around a pound each of my favorites and then stock a ton of variety to prevent boredom.

It's that "Can't restock for 5 years" bit that throws it all off. I'd be almost totally out of tobacco no matter what in a few years if I couldn't restock for 5 whole years. I'm not sure how much I actually smoke per year as it varies, but in the last 12 months alone I know I've smoked a few pounds. This is a rough estimate, but I need a LOT more than 20 pounds for 5 years of my staple blends. 5 pounds of C&D Haunted Bookshop 3 pounds of McClelland Tudor Castle 2 pounds of GH &Co. Ennerdale Flake 2 pounds of GH & Co. Rum Twist 2 pounds of Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake 2 pounds of C&D Pegasus 2 pounds of Sam Gawith Full Virginia Flake 2 pounds Sam Gawith St. James Flake (ideally, 10 pounds of each of those blends just listed) Because I'm still missing quite a few favorites but I might be able to live with just these but im much higher quantity. I totally forgot Escudo, which I only have about 5 tins of currently, but I reserve it for about once a month smokes. I'd ideally like 20 tins or so cellared.

Since I will use my whole leaf to make ropes and I will be aging them for 5 years am I allowed to add 6 1/2 lbs to this current stash? I am just having some fun here!
