No ... this isn't a thread to boast about my active weekend.
There has been a tin of this blend taunting me for quite awhile now because it's so swollen that it wouldn't stack properly with the others. So, I flipped it over and saw that it was dated 07/29/2010 ... that's long enough! Without any further ado, I popped it open and was blown away by the intense stewed fruit aromas that hissed forth. The tobacco was in beautiful shape and almost perfect moisture content. After rubbing out a few broken flakes, I loaded up an MM Diplomat and set fire to the leaf.
The tangy Red Va's and deep, fruity Perique were consistently punctuated by the woody, spicy Dark Fired ... Yin and Yang. As the bowl progressed, each component was ever-present and remaining in balance. Towards the very bottom, the sweetness faded slightly letting more earthy and spicy notes come forward.
Overall, I was blown away ... fans of GLP's Triple Play would find this right in their wheelhouse. Highly Recommended!

That sounds like an awesome smoke! Thanks for taking the time to do a review. I looked in my C&D drawer, I have two 2oz. tins, but each have only 3 years age, so I am going to leave them alone. I see that there is a substantial savings if one is content with collaring 8 oz.tins, or jarring it up. www.pipesandcigars.com/mobile/p/cornell-diehl-exhausted-rooster-pipe-tobacco/1472739/Trying to recall, does P&C or SP ever have C&D sales, and if so is it the complete lineup or just selected blends?

It seems that the usual C&D sale is for their bulks ... but, you never know!

Nice review. Exhausted Rooster and Epiphany are my two C&D favorites.

Ya know I use to really like this stuff, finished my first tin without a hitch but, now........ I just opened a tin from 2015 and had 3-4 bowls out of it in 3-4 different pipes including a meer. Just nasty and not wanting to smoke decently, the closest I came to enjoying it was in the meer and then I had to battle through the 1st half of the bowl to get it to smoke right and it seems to be the right moisture level so I give up. I think ODF has spoiled a lot of tobaccos for me because this is not the first one I use to like a year or two ago I find recently is just not even close to what I remember or can I stand. Really pisses me off to say the least.

Ron, ODF is some tasty leaf for sure. Sorry to hear that your tin of ER isn't agreeing with you. Maybe 2010 was a stellar year? Lol
