Nice post. Next to running boards, fat fendered USA iron was the best! Think this Cad is a 1946-1948 model?

Yes, forgot that World War II interrupted production. That body style carried on for the most part when production was resumed.

Almost worth giving up the throne. I bet that he enjoyed giving it up...he probably had a lot more freedom.....she must have been quite a gal!

Edward must have been a serious pipe smoker with a humidor installed. Well, a man needs a hobby.

I forgot to mention in the earlier post...the auction took place in September of 1997...wish I had a time machine to bid on a few items.
I am not sure how historically "the Crown" is on Netflix, but by watching it, it seems that King Edward had been collaborating with tthe Nazi's, and had a contingency plan to keep his throne if and when the Nazi's invaded and conquered England. Later on, after he abdicated the throne, Intelligence agencies provided Queen Elizabeth the documents proving his actions and she sent his arse packing.
In the final analysis, I am glad he fell for Wallis Simpson...better he fell for her than the country fall for the Nazi's.

Lovely car. I’ve always admired pre-WWII automobiles. That’s class! Thanks for posting Charlie.

Those were the days. During the 50's Cadillac custom built several cars that I had the pleasure of seeing back then in Las Vegas. One was a Cadillac station-wagon, the other was a Cadillac sportscar that had doors (coup) that slid into the fenders. These were custom ordered cars for those with serious $$$$.

Nice car to say the least! So Cadillac should put "By appointment to Edward Duke of Windsor" on their cars !

I've always been fascinated with HRH The Duke of Windsor. One of my first pipe trips was to The Pipe Smokers Hall of Fame in Indiana to see his pipe and letter to Col. Ed.

Looks like a Grabow and a Custom Bilt in the pipe rack. Thanks for posting. That was fantastic. I love old Cadi’s from the 40’s-60’s.
