It's not hard to find a great looking beautiful pipe if you're willing to spend the money. But every once in a while I find a pipe that wasn't all that expensive when new, and I certainly didn't pay much for it used. Just a great looking little gem that smokes wonderful. A couple of months ago I came across just such an animal. This little (group 3?) straight Dublin shape Armellini pipe caught my eye on eBay that I got for about $13 including shipping. Italian pipe makers aren't usually known for making traditional shapes that much, so I thought this might be interesting. A little clean up and wow, I really liked the looks of this pipe. The more I look at it and smoke it the more I love it. Nice grain, and while I usually don't like gold or brass on pipes, this seemed to make it look even more classy, especially with the smokey grey stem. Probably not everyones cup of tea, but what do you have that's an inexpensive pipe that you love?

This Jobey Stromboli is one of my favorites. Not a freehand, but it smokes well, and sits very comfortably in the mouth. All-in-all a nice pipe.

This one makes me smile every time I look at it. Right now it is halfway through a restoration. Has been reamed and cleaned, stem work has started. Need to finish and polish the stem and re-stain the stummel. Soren... It was one of 9 estate pipes and a lazy-susan humidor rack that I got for 50 bucks off ebay.

MuttandJeff, I see you have a Mauro Armellini, very nice pipes. I use to collect them (pre-Wilma). His daughter took over the business when he passed and is a fine pipe maker in her own right but, I just prefered Mauro's work. Still have several of his cavaliers.

I have a "No Name" pipe (it literally says No Name on the bottom of the pipe) that is a great smoker and what I would consider a very rugged pipe and I like it. I got it in a huge estate lot that I bought a while back. I don't know a thing about it but it was cheap and is one of my favorites.

I have so many inexpensive pipes that fit the title, but time constraints of beiing able to clean them properly, and take pictures would not be fair to the pipes...I will try to revist later, as I have several that fit the bill. My most recent Wally Frank that I posted in the other thread, costed me about $2.00 when I break down my auction purchase....my daughter said that she really likes it, so I reckon that she will get it.

Congrats. You made a VG buy. Armellini are not budget pipes. Enjoy.
