Two games I wish would have made the move beyond DOS and Windows 3.1 are Jill of the Jungle and Bruce Lee. Xuan aced the whole way through three levels of Jill and I actually made it to the upper levels of Bruce. Any games you all remember?

The last video games that I enjoyed was pong, PAC-man, and asteroids.
Yes I know they are arcade and not pc games.😉

I told noted Doctor of Pipes Rick Newcombe, that it would be pretty cool if he had a grandson named Duke.

Silent Hunter..You were a sub commander and had to find enemy ships and sink them...you had to compute firing solutions while compensating for yaw pitch and roll.

Do I like the older pc games? Well, guess it's time for a shot of my current desktop. You'll note Half Life 4 seventh icon on the top row, and Silent Hunter III (the best one), right of middle on the bottom. Far Cry 1 on the top left (still my favorite FPS), all three Medal of Honors (fourth one sucked), Tachyon the Fringe second on the bottom (Bruce Campbell rocked as you), the two best racing games, DiRT 3 and GT Legends, and some really old ones, like StarCraft, Thief 2, Dark Forces 2 and Mysteries of the Sith, KOTOR 2, even Deus Ex Revolution, which is the original with the graphics updated to DirectX 9. The left side icons are all pretty much for FSX, which ain't getting any younger. DOSBox is bottom right, for doing Tom Landry Strategy Football, where I learned the xs and os of football, from Tom Landry. Current desktop background is me parked in a Carenado C152, on my way back to Dallas from pretend buying a light blue 1978 152 for sale in Toronto for $25,000. You could say I like some of the older games.

It's the best one; better than IV. Unfortunately, you're a U-boat in this one, not an American sub, but it's got the same pace and tension as SH1, just better graphics. The stars are real - I was silent running from a destroyer one time, and using the external camera to see where he was, and saw Orion. Then I found the Big Dipper, which points to the North Star, and had my bearing to him. I know you can patch it run on 7 like I do, don't know about 8 or 10. Gute Jagd. (You'll need the two files called rld-sh3c.rar, and rld-sh14.rar; you can search for them. They update the original from v1.0 to v3 and v1.4; both are needed to run on 7

I remember when John Bruce came back from the arcade at the mall and tried to describe this new game called Pac Man. He couldn't do it.
What? Wait, you're what? Huh? I er...what?

Not a big gaming fan except for card games and chess. I enjoyed Duke Nukem and would gladly play it again if I could find it in a format compatible with Windows 7. Played a Monopoly game on line but it was so crooked in favor of the computer players I gave up on it, LOL. I could not make it around the board without landing in Jail. Taxes and fines ate me alive. Too true to life for a game.
My old computer is too underpowered for the modern games, I guess.

Scrolling through old threads on this rainy morning.
I still enjoy all of the Age of Empires games and Rise of Nations. Took a wgile to get Age of Mytholigy running on my new pc, but when I finally did, I played through the whole campaign in a couole of weeks.
No high speed internet way out in the boonies so I'm stuck playing older si gle player games.

For me, the classics were the monkey Island games.
Doom was also a favourite and I loved ultima underworld as an rpg.

Here's a really old one ... Hunt the Wumpus. I believe it was on my Commodore 64 or TI-99 which is where I started learning BASIC ... good times!

A friend had Castle Wolfenstein on one of those tiny-screened, really long Macs. I was so impressed!

Now I need to tuen my computer on and find the old "oregon trail." It has to be the green and black version. I remember in elementary school "you killed 4000 lbs of meat, you were only able to carry 2 lbs with you." And "Josh has died from dysentery." ... What a shi__y way to go out... 😊

And Lunar Lander CLOADed on to the big TRS-80 with the 16K of RAM. Paid $200 to upgrade it from 4K, and the next week the Chinese were selling the same RAM chips for $4.95.
Then there was showing a non-gamer what a real computer game was (Myst on a Mac), then not being able to use your computer for a couple of hours
"Hello, my name is ELIZA, what seems to be the problem?"
"I think I'm a cow"
"Why do you think it is wrong to be a cow?"
"Moo"
"I understand, please go on."
