Containers full of food stuffs, water, medical supplies sitting on Puertorican soil , NO TRUCK DRIVERS, Says Govrernor. What a bunch of crap, get your military, round up male or female drivers, hook them up and start the wagon train. So what if you wreck a few, move um out RAWHIDE!

Well, Puerto Ricans like to work. Since the US Congress has destroyed all business opportunities on the island and pushed them into a corner, I suspect that the majority of the capable workers have moved to the mainland where the jobs are. Then again, since they have no way of communicating the need, the people who would like to help don't know what to do. Even those of us who have lived through multiple hurricanes have no concept of what they are experiencing.

Ron it's called conscription, grab every male female you get hands on, find out if they can drive, go to container port, hook um up and caravan to where they need, Maybe roads are impassable , but damn it it's not an ideal situation, improvise damn it. Nothing is easy , I've been in major Hurricanes, rescued people, got dead bodies out the marsh, moaning and groaning on TV ain't gonna get nothing done.

The problem they are having is that they only want "Licensed" CDL drivers. Hell,I've driven everything from a 1/4 ton to a 5 ton truck.Backed an eighteen wheeler up a ramp into a cargo hold.I've never had a CDL. I agree with oldcajun on this one,it aint no time to be picky. If they can drive it let them. That little piece of plastic doesn't feed many people.

Imagine what the authorities at the port would do if a bunch of random, unlicensed drivers showed up with trucks and said "yeah, give us the supplies, we'll distribute them...." Not going to happen. The fact that the infrastructure has been shot to hell means that a way of distributing the aid should have been built into the plan from the beginning.

I believe if the Gov showed up there with a crew, and some armed military men they would have the proper credentials , you don't sit down and cry in a situation like this, this is what citizens do that have been hand held by Government. Screw the CID, I was driving a Combine at 12, Sheeezzz.

None of you have figured out why this happens? Look at Haiti after the quake, now PR after the storm. There is a reason for the mess. They never have been able to take care of themselves and never will.
No drivers... right.

Well they have a huge fleet of Republic Waste Services trash trucks. As for being out of fuel it is not that hard to move it to the island. That being said Puerto Rico voted for statehood 61% just this year. By the way they have fuel, last night on the news they showed people being rationed to five gallons each. The decline of mankind is astounding remember folks God helps those who help themselves, Where there is will there is a way. One last thing don't give any money to the Red Cross, here in Houston they were asked what they did with 100 million they supposedly spent. They could not answer, the news showed what they where feeding in shelters six packs of crackers and Jello cups and calling it a meal. I am going to get off the podium box and sit on my cases of water and dehydrated food next to my axe and shovel that I use to clean up messes. YMMV

I'm closing this, but I will leave everyone with this observation, for what it's worth. I would encourage everyone to think about the loss of property, livelihood and most importantly life, instead of criticizing those that have had to endure that.
I'm ashamed at some of what I have read here.
