I saw this thread at Pipes Magazine, and in case the thief has the idea to try to sell it somewhere, I wanted to get the word out about this stolen Barling. Here's the OP: At last weekend's Greater Kansas City Pipe Club Pipe Show a 1926 Barling Spigot was stolen. This is an incredibly uncommon pipe, so if you happen to catch a glimpse of such a pipe, you are most likely looking at stolen property. The Pipedia Barling Page has images of a Barling with 1926 hallmarks. If I get permission, I will post an image of the pipe shape from Jesse Silver's Barling Catalog reproduction. pipedia.org/wiki/Barling Here's a link to the thread: pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/stolen-1926-barling-spigot?replies=16#post-1136535You can see photos of the pipe there.

Wow, that's a shame...
From Jesse's comments, this one will be easy to spot if they try and sell it in our little world.

There's a special place in Hell for low-life who steal pipes...

This is unfortunate, but a harsh reality of the world today. I recall something very similar happening at last years NY Pipe Show I believe.

Heh, and it's not even young people doing it! When I was at the Columbus show, an old guy tried to walk by a table and steal a really nice pipe right in front of everyone. The guy was like 80 years old and tried to just walk by a table and put the pipe in his pocket!
Hope they catch the guy.

That sucks, Buroak must be major bummed, them rare Barlings are really pricey, and this one seems quite rare, what a beauty.
When I worked for a foodservice distributor, I fielded empty cartons that previously contained 25 lbs of Frozen Australian lobster tails, I would clean up the dog crap from my Mastiff/Dane and put it in a plastic trash bag, seal it up tight, put it in the box and tape the box up...The boxes had "Australian Lobster tails" emblazoned on it. I would keep it on the tail of the truck while the rollup door was open making deliveries. One time I came out right as the guy was grabbing it...I hollered out "Hey put that back, I have to pay for that" and gave a half hearted pursuit...the guy ran over jumped in a car and gave me the double finger as he laughed and sped away.
I would have liked to been a fly on the wall when they unwrapped their good fortune on the kitchen table.
All the other times, they were sly and watched my rhtym and stole it when they saw me going indoors.

In response to Charlie's post, (which is great by the way), I recall the Garbage Strike in NYC, when people would wrap up their garbage in boxes, 'gift wrap' it, and leave it in their unlocked cars.Problem was solved.

Yeah, it's not the same pipe. The only thing that's similar is the spigot mount. The bowl shape, stem shape, and nomenclature are entirely different. I know the seller. I hope that the pipe gets returned, but I wouldn't bet on it.
