I don't make much in a traditional loaf but any flat breads, pita or pizza are made from scratch by me. I'm not a great baker, but the wife and kid love my doughy creations.

I use a bread machine. it's little book and on-line recipe sources I get recipes . I like savory breads with herbs, spices and such things as pepperoni. The others in the family like cinnamon bread with raisins. Sandwiches made with sharp cheddar bread are delightful.

Nice machine.
Savory breads are a treat. I notice they disappear fast!

Grumpy, could you share the cheddar bread recipe, or any others please?

A few years back, our family went through a tight spell, and homemade bread really saved the day.
It was basically flour, a couple eggs, scalded milk, hydrated dry yeast, a sprinkle of salt, a couple glugs of oil, and a good handful of sugar.
I've always had a bit of a sweet-tooth, so if there was anything special about my bread, it was that it was a little bit sweeter and a whole lot yeastier than store-bought.
And it was spectacular with butter melting on top and perhaps a bit of strawberry jelly.
But it wasn't so sweet so as to limit its use.
My wife would cut that same bread into slices the next morning, toast them in the skillet, and serve them with eggs, beans and salsa ... and it was incredible that way, as well.

You're killin me with this thread brutha! I absolutely love fresh baked bread. All kinds of bread! But alas, I've not been able to enjoy a single morsel since July 02, my birthday, when I started my Paleo Diet. Ok, ok, admittedly it is a "modified" paleo diet, meaning that although I've eliminated virually all carbs from my regimen, I do splurge a little on the weekends, drinking a couple of beers and Scotch or Bourbon throughout the week. The bad news is that I haven't had bread, pasta, rice, potato's, ice cream, etc... in 3 months now. The good news? Well, the good news is that I've been able to drop over 50 lbs. Only about 10 or so to go. You are a better man than I am. I have intentionally avoided this thread! But, thought I'd check back in and see what I've been missing. Wowsers! Some great looking recipe's here. So, now the final countdown is underway. I've decided to break my carb-fast on Thanksgiving. Gotta tell you guys that I'm looking forward to enjoyin some punkin pie, dressing and home made bread and rolls. Although the diet has been goin fine, down 68 lbs so far, I think I'll ease up on the carb ban a little for the holidays.

Works for me Also ease up a lot over the Holiday season.
