I almost hate to share this, for fear that everyone will snatch up all the University Flake, but fair is fair. 20% off when you buy 5 - 50g tins. Pretty good deal which basically means when you buy 5, one of them is free. I'm sure you could have done that math, but whatever.

University Flake is one that I haven't tried due to the advertised topping ... berry, I believe.
How strong is that flavor in the overall smoke?

I find it's a nice subtle compliment, but it's really the tobacco that takes center stage. I would encourage you to give it a try. If you don't like it... just send it to me

Plum I thought ............ Yeah, I have heard plum and also blueberry. Can't say that my taster is good enough to nail it down though.

Maybe Jim will chime in I ordered some Rattrays Wallace Flake awhile back but haven't popped the tin yet. Supposed to be similar but more VA forward.

For what it's worth, Jim Lilley's favorite smoke was University Flake, he is the founder of the Peterson pipe forum and had an incredible collection acquired over his lifetime...I think he donated almost all of it to the Peterson factory. I tried to get him on the Pipesmagazine podcast, but he declined because of advancing Alzheimers...I spoke to him on the phone and he seemed fine, but he didn't feel comfortable, wish I had acted sooner. So you are in good company, Justin! His farewell address was written long before he left us.... The full read, well worth your time: thepetersoncollector.blogspot.com/Sorry for the thread drift....
