California has dozens of fires raging, one in the wine country is 20,000 acres...my son lives in Santa Rosa and thankfullyt an insomniac...he noticed the apartment getting smokier by the minute and looked out the front door at 3AM, the fire was across the street. He grabbed his wife and 2 month old and got out....he doesn't know the status of his belongings, but they are safely 3 hours south at his inlaws. For reference his home is on Piner just left of the Railroad tracks off Piner, right in the heart of it all...Fountaingrove has a bunch of reallly expensive properties, and heavily wooded...many of them are toast, the hospitals had to be evacuated...overnight, 70mph + winds really wreaked havoc...

Watching Fox 11 News (Los Angeles) on the Roku and some Anaheim neighborhoods are under evacuation. Santa Anna winds are pushing the flames from one house to another.

It got to within 2 blocks of my friends home in Anaheim, but the wind is now moving it away. He and his family are currently in Houston.

Glad you clan is safe, Charlie. What a nightmare.
In PA we thankfully get plenty of rain, however we do have subterranean coal mine fires that have been burning for decades.

After the Santa Rosa disaster, there is another fire raging in Ventura and nearby environs. So far, 50,000 acres affected and 150 homes evacuated.

Yeah that sucks! The driver I meet in the high desert lives in Santa Paula Ca., He said that he had evacuated his parents, hopes he won’t have to.

This has grown serious. Injuries, but no fatalities to fireman. Helicopter pilots are flying in very dicey conditions. Big issues for everyone dealing with respiratory issues. Developers have tried to get work crews into the fire zones and adjacent areas. They had to be officially sanctioned and warned off ongoing projects/builds. Very sad and hard to watch these homeowners lose everything.
