French pipes in this market are greatly under-rated and represent great values. Among my French pipes, I have several Jeantets and they all puff very well, developing flavor very nicely.

I second that recommendation. Given that St. Claude is the cradle of the modern briar pipe it is hard to go wrong with any well made French pipe and Jeantet is a solid choice.

I have two Jeantets and both are very good smokers. Not sure who makes them now, but mine were made by Chacom.

I think Jeantet pipes were sold in the CI catalog years ago for low prices.
