I really like this one, Ron. You could have taken a bit more off the bottom line of the stem from the shank through the bend, but overall it is an excellent piece!

Wow, you really have an eye for detail..had you not pointed it out, I would have never noticed....very subtle. That is a beautiful pipe, some lucky dog will be happy.

Ron has progressed far enough that those are the types of things he is working on now. It takes much longer to train your hands and eyes to see that little bit of extra and to be able to confidently get rid of it. My GKCPC contest pipe from 2 years ago (the author) literally had 20+ hours in the stem. Most of that time was staring at it in silhouette trying to pinpoint that bit of extra. That amount of time isn't feasible on every pipe, but when you have the judges telling you it's the best author they've ever seen it's well worth it.

I spend most my time (a week or more ) just to make something that looks like a pipe. I think I'm getting closer though.

Being honest, the pipes you've been cranking out since there were only six of us talking to each other on this forum are first rate, finest kind. You deserve credit, a lot IMHO.

Ron, I know we have talked about this before...but what is the longest pipe you can make without having to do an extension?

Ron, I know we have talked about this before...but what is the longest pipe you can make without having to do an extension? Without going out to the shop to check I'd say maximum length of Stummel would be 3-1/2" give or take a little. The longest pipe (not including a Cavalier) I've made so far without an extension is the Dog Lovar measuring 6-1/8" long.

Glad to see that, Ron! I just noticed something very strange, it states above your post that RDPipes likes this...... Via MOBILE?I don't even own a cell phone and my PC is a desktop (actually under the desk but, ya know what I mean) with hardwired modem/router.

RD this is a beautiful pipe, are you still producing pipes ? Not right at the moment because I have moved but, as soon as I get back to Texas I'll start back at it, which should be in a few months I hope. My website is still active but, no new pipes have been added of course.

Ron, I haven't seen one pipe that you've made that wasn't absolutely perfect in every respect. If I was working again (I don't even like to say the word), I'd be hounding you day and night for a pipe. Every one is spectacular. Hope to see you back home (Texas) soon so you can start cranking out the creations, and I can continue to drool.
