Many thanks Jim. Sounds interesting for sure as I love the vinegar essence in aged Red Va. I may have went for this one five years ago; however, I need more tobacco like a hole in the head and less sweetness than Christmas Cheer of which I have 16 tins from various years in the cellar is a red flag.
How does it stack up against previous editions of McCranie's Red Ribbon/Flake which I also have in the cellar in abundance?

It is less sweet, less sugary and a tad less tangier than Christmas Cheer and McCranie's. It also has a few more nuanced flavor notes and is earthier than McCranie's. Lightly tarter, too. You'll certainly notice the differences.

Just my not so humble opinion, but McCrannie's is by far the winner in this horse race... by a country mile. The C&D is ok, but that's about all I can say about it.

I've decided to pass this time around. It was good, but I'm just not secure about C&D's handling of their red Virginias since the disaster with the last go around of this blend. Besides, I have plenty of McCrainie's and Christmas Cheer in the pile.

I bought 15. My favorite red VA by a country mile. I had 36 of the original and cried when I returned them. Just don’t have the funds now for more.

I'm in the same boat; my boat overfloweth with tobacco - more than I can ever smoke.

I bought ten tins, since they had a 25 can limit per day, I figured that they had boatloads of the stuff.
