Since we've talked about forum posts that bug us let me say one thing that I like about this forum..Here a topic that could easily lead to a war of words can be discussed on it's merits as the person who posted it hoped it would be.No yelling insults at other members as on some other forums. It boils down to a respect for each other as pipe smokers and a realization that the things that we have in common far out weigh our differences of opinions. That's just one of the reasons I like this forum..I'm glad I'm here.Thank all of you for making me feel that way.

Good to hear, . That is Justin's vision and I think that the majority of us share it.

I find that pipe smokers in general are a cordial bunch. Of course, there are some bad apples that crop up every now and then, and that is why good moderation is so important. I feel privileged to count myself among you fine folk, and think J was top notch in creating such an inviting place for us all to share.

you raise a good point. This place is a bit different, more polite, more welcoming, less judgemental. I am honored to be a part of the pipe community, but even more so to have been invited here.

I'm glad everyone enjoys it here. My idea was to make a place that was just comfortable and relaxing to be a part of. We aren't fancy, we aren't the biggest, but we do what we can within our means.
It wasn't about re-inventing the wheel, just making a better one.

Amen to all the above. Justin has made the format so good that "Mr. Techno-Idiot" here can navigate same & still have a few brain cells left. Enjoying the commraderie (sp) even 'tho I can't really respond to most of the threads. Keep on keepin' on everybody.

I have to agree this forum is way different than the others I am on. It is more relaxed and the topics seem to be thought out. Even the replies are relaxed and not heated. It has been interesting when a topic comes up that can cause a flame war the topic is discussed in a mature manner and then goes away.
Justin thanks for creating this forum.
Dave how is Archie doing it has been awhile since you posted anything about her.

I love this place as anyone of you but wait until it becomes more crowded. We will have our share of flaming and fighting too. The question is always how to handle it.

@johnr: archy is ok. BTW, I pronounce archy 'arky', not archee, because it's a contraction of her username 'claypipesarchaeologist', which has way too many damn letters and a pause around the ae, er... o bit. Having to quit college to afford an apartment devastated her, and she kind of went back into her shell and quit posting on online forums. She's an outdoor loner.
If she can hold out till her husband graduates, hopefully his electrical engineering degree will get them a decent income and maybe enough for her to go back to school. The big news is, they're about to move into a yurt on a friend's property. Not even kidding. The rent will be cheap, they get to use the house during the day, and they're allowed to work off the rent by cooking for the friends and other stuff.
She wants to get some farm animals. Her dream is to own her own working farm, where they can grow food and be fairly self-sufficient.
I try not to email her too much because she's married, and I'm not friends with her husband and have never talked to him.

I'm afraid you are likely right, Frank. A few rules and an active and involved owner go a long way though. I think that we will be able to maintain what we have created here. There is certainly some group moderation that we have already seen happen. It's simple, sit back, relax, converse and don't be a dick.

I enjoy it here for the most part. I am even making an attempt to be a well rounded poster. Something I have not done since I was on PM several years back. Lets see what happens! Myself, I hope for a successful forum!
