I cannot pick up the subtle nuances of tobaccos that other people taste...caramels, figs, raisins, spices, etc....
But when I open the antique cabinets and amoires that house my cellared tobacco's....wow! The smells are nirvana-like in how they meet my olfactory senses...it is like I am being transported to an otherworldy place. Does anyone else have the same experience from sealed tins and locked-down mason jars?

For sure. That's what makes opening a jar so enjoyable.

For sure. That's what makes opening a jar so enjoyable. Yeah...I get that, but when you have dozens...well hundreds of tins, and they are all sealed...the "married" smells are something else! Makes you wonder about the seals though....

If you can smell 'em, sell 'em... Oh, no that's another subject.
Sure seems that sealed containers shouldn't 'smell' though. I have tobacco in bags and pouches still and I smell those. Also, no figs for me either. I enjoy the smoke but haven't found the fruits and nuts yet, except at Walmart.

TB you have this problem because Diesel fumes have buried your tongue and sinus with a very thick coating.

I can smell through tins. Not the pull-tab style, but he screw-top tins for sure.

My whole-leaf tobacco has made the entire room smell like that. The bags of 1995 Latakia and varied cigar leaf are quite pungent! 😊

My tobacco closet is a tidal wave of wonderful scents when I open in. In my particular situation, I do have opened tobacco and unsealed stuff in there, so it makes sense.
Either way, nothing I'm complaining about.

We had a visitor last month, a non smoker, who opened the tobacco cabinet and nearly swooned. I had to light up a bowl of P&W #191 for her.
