At Dead center, front going clockwise..Black shirt is our newest member David, who heads up a publishing company, i am to his left, the bearded guy is Joe Fabian "Territory Sales Manager for Pacific
Covering Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Indiana, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Hawaii.", who lives near us, Jon is a member of the military and serves as an aircraft mechanic, at 12 o'clock is Gary a retired customs agent, Darin (cobguy) made the trip from the mountains, glided in on his Goldwing, John R, and his wife Kayla...considering the medical maladies that John and kayla have recently faced recently, probably the toughest among us. We usually sit near the front of the store, there is a poker table on an elevated walled platform for those that want to partake. Puting the flame to the pipe that I won at the WCPS...this freehand smokes Old Joe Krantz like a champ...wide open draw, i think it will race to the front of the rotation. 2 rooms adjoin the main floor populated with cigar smokers, the 2nd pic is bad photography/ setting sun, not smoke...Paul Buza put in a state of the art air handling system. All the pipe stuff is against the back wall, since we started coming Paul has added quite a bit! Plenty of craft beers on tap, bottled domestic and imports for every taste, wines, sodas and coffee for every palate. And of course a well stocked humidor. George, who some of you have met at the WCPS got a nasty cold upon return from Vegas, so he was missed. David commented on our conversations with Joe Fabian "it is like having Google at the table with us" Joe is 32 years old, but his wisdom on pipes, experience in tobacco blending and how the components work with each other and insights in the industry seem like he is twice his age in knowledge...we are fortunate to have him in our industry, as a pipe club be ware fortunate to have him living near us. Ernie Markle is a premiere pipe maker that also lives nearby and at the WCPS, he expressed an interest in visiting our pipe club in the near future...we look forward to that possibility. As we left, the cashier said "the guy in the leather motorcycle jacket left without paying his tab." Darin skipped out!......he called back after he was safely out of the county...."hey, I forgot....." In Maricopa county we have a Sheriff's posse manned by civilians...when he comes back. On second thought, we stuck Gary with the tab...he is the oldest, runs the slowest, so it all worked out.

This was all planned from the beginning ... didn't you see how he ushered me away from the table and out the door?? Now, I owe him one and will HAVE to buy one of his pipes ... dastardly!!
It was great seeing you all again and I look forward to the next time.

"was great seeing you all again and I look forward to the next time. " It was good seeing you and having time to visit. Darrin the next time we meet I will have some for us to try. Took that cigar leaf blend and added some Virginia #1 and some Cube Cut to it. Now just have to wait a bit.

Sounds like a great combo! It was pretty cool that they were actually carrying the Cube Cut in the store.
What a hoot that guy was too that kept sitting by us ... ornery knows ornery! LOL

Paul has done a pretty good job of diversifying the blends.... I hurried out to a planned dinner, so I forgot to check out the pipes or tobacco’s.... I guess I will have to go by this week. That was good of Joe to ask what C&D blends we like as a club so that he can suggest them to Paul. I am thinking Briar fox and the cellar series... not sure of OJK is a C&D blend. You obviously didn’t hear... that guy behind John sat there to keep tabs on John.... John is a combo of Marine/ Tasmanian devil/Yosemite Sam....poor Kayla.

What a great place. You've got a good group of people there. Thanks for sharing the experience. It seems like we might be starting to see a breakout, it would be nice to get some 20-30 year olds into our group. My next step is to get a sign made for the store “ The Arizona Pipe Club meets here on the 2nd Saturday of the month” to hang near the pipes and tobacco’s, along with business cards with our webpage and Facebook address.
